Plans for a pit blind?

Postby ColMuldrow » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:09 pm

Anybody ever built a pit blind or had one built by a welder? My buddies and I want to build and/or design it ourselves. Anybody got any plans or designs or know where we can get some?

I would go look at a few atleast on the net and price what I wanted, then price the build. If your going to use a tank make sure you put big enough span on the legs. I have heard of them rolling once in the ground.

This guy has a few different styles on his site, and they do custom pits. Hope it helps.

Do you have any plans? I'm not trying to be a jerk, its just that one of my buddies is pretty good at this stuff and will build it for us. Probably for a case of beer and a few hunting trips if we supply the materials. We just want to give him a good idea of what we want.

I do not have any plans, I have built a few pits and some real nice ones over the years, never had any plans. All you need is a 3'x8'x4 deep box with a big plate on the bottom and some angle iron braces. Before you think on it to much, go price some 1/4" plate, and have the steel supply yard shear it to size for you, it will be much easier to build that way.

When you see what it cost you may change your mind!

Thats what happened to the crew that got in it an it rolled. I am not sure of the exact story but I know it didnt have wings.

Buckshot knows what he is talking about. Those boys dont charge much more to build it than what it cost to buy the materials at retail by the time you figure in everything. Last one I priced was 1300 bucks.

Ditto on Adam
He can bang them out too! Was asking him about the pit business Saturday. Said he can build one of his standard pits in 4 hours.
And his custom pits are sick!
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

From what we have had built for us the price has been around $100 per running foot on length and width. IE 8' long x 4' wide = $1200 or in that range.

Your best bet is to draw out what you want and then just have someone build it.

Good luck!
