Grandfathers guns

My grandfather passed away about 25 years ago and left me a gun cabinet full of guns. I was wondering if anyone on this forum new a gunsmith or someone who could check these guns out and tell me what kind of shape they are in and maybe what they are worth. I also may be interested in having some of them reblued or refinished. I live in the Madison County. Looking for someone who is knowledgable and reasonably priced. Thanks.

+1000....what they said.....I nickel-plated my grandpa's old rusty single shot .410 ga. ....worse thing I ever did....I've never looked at that gun the same way since!!!

you can find what the value will be close to by looking at gunbroker.com. I had close to 70 guns left to me when my dad passed away and from time to time I update what they are worth from gunbroker.com. I would never sell any of them so the value doesn't matter to me anyway.

Actually the bluing is not that bad. Unfortunately, he put masking tape around most of the stocks and wrote what kind of gun each was in case my grandmother needed to sell them. I have attempted to remove this masking tape and it has left a mess. I don't know if they will ever be the same again. Any suggestions?

They're of no monetary value! But to you they should be worth more than anything....I have some of my great uncles..who was like my grandfather....I see some in the pawn shop that sell for $75.......wouldn't take anything for them....keep them like they are!

If it is just masking tape goo on the stocks, a rag and some WD-40 or rubbing alcohol should get that off.
Just make sure u keep them oiled, especially if you use alcohol on them.

Goo Gone gets tape sticky off better than anything!

+1 on the gunbroker for valuing... I wouldn't reblue them though.. Just leave them as they are...

Yep, don't dare reblue or refinish them. That old patina on the steel is what gives them their character and value but grandpaw would prolly skin you if you sold them anyway.

Thanks for all the help. I don't plan on selling them, but it would be nice to know if I was sitting on some nice collectors piece. I plan on passing them down to my son (8 months old) in about 25 years.
