There are just too many hunters on too little land. In stead of turning people away, they need to be providing more hunting opportunities. It is good to see there is strong interest in waterfowling. But instead of turning people away, the state should act on the interests of the taxpayers, and try to provide more hunting opportunities.

Here is an option:

-Create a seperate wma waterfowling fee of 50 dollars for in-state, and and 150 for out of state.

-Put the money in a special fund which can only be used to purchase more wma land for waterfowling or purchase waterfowling hunting rights in the delta.

-Every 30 in-state hunters (or 10 out of state hunters) = an additional acre of waterfowling They could be adding 100 acres a year in the most popular counties.

What do you think?

The reason all these areas are going to draw is because of spill over from other areas.... WHY? cause those other areas went to a DRAW.... this is the exact reason I was against the Brake going to a draw last year. Look what happened now the closest WMA to the Brake is now going to a draw...

What do suggest people dp BR549? ...... not go hunting anymore? What if the State came to your lease/land and told you that you can only hunt your place on tuesday and thursday before 12 noon because you are putting too much strain on the resource....

Seymore...
those people bullying and what not you speak of should be turned into the proper authorities... we have done it and those people will be kicked off the place....

We are hunting migratory birds people.... plant some food for them and let people get after em. They will be here when they are here and not when they are not.....

It is all a crock of $#!+ just like the new deer laws they are trying to pass on us...... it all boils down to money and they dont have as much as what they would like so they have to come up with some way to get it

OH yeah Seymore..... How many days in the last 5 years have you spent hunting public ground in ANY state????

I think bullshiat! Then you are taking away from someone that has worked their whole life to have something! Out state Dept of Wildlife works hard to provide what they do. It's the John Q. Public that thinks the state "OWES" them something that's creating the problem!

Hey I'm smarter than that anyhow! Im not going to hunt it anymore than the resourse allows me to hunt it! If that's one day a week or 3 times a week or once every 2 weeks! Id rather have a few great hunts than just going to be going and then screwing up any chance of ever having anything! That's what's wrong now, our resourses are being way over abused!

My .02,
I have not hunted public for about 3 years now. With my sched., it is hard to pinpoint when I'll be off the ship to hunt so I hate the draw. I used to hunt Mahanna but have not since draw. There NEEDS to be some spots that a guy can,"wake up and decide to go to", as someone put it. It is BS to make ALL the spots draws. Hell, if this season was an idication, I may as well give up the ducks altogether! I only got to go on 2 hunts!

No, what I'm telling you is I'm not stupid enough to think a resourse can handle huntin that much. Wouldn't hunt the same place 2 days in a row much less 3! I wouldn't push my resourses to the point of having to have someone to tell me I need to back off! That's what's brought all this on in the first place! You have to manage your resourses! Do you report everything that you kill to the state or to your area biologist? If not the shut the fueck up! That's the whole problem right there! I think our biologist do an amazing job to try to give John Q Public the most the maximum allowable opportunities to hunt with very little input back from the hunter! All everyone wants to do is bitch about it! How in the sam hell do you think someone can give you honest and true directions if they don't have the proper info to do their jobs with in the first place? John Q Public has no one to blame for this mess other than themselves!

Now, I'm no math wizard by any means, but could someone explain how overcrowding is the issue? Every year the department complains about the number of hunters going down and looking for ideas to get people back invovled in hunting. I have neither the time nor the resources to look it up, but I'd like to know the number of hunters and public hunting acres today versus what they were 20 years ago. I'd bet a dollar to donuts that we have fewer hunters and more acres today than we did 20 years ago.

No doubt, you must be so stuck up sombodys rear that you cant see the writing on the wall.

Point is, loose you ability to hunt where you are and not have the resources to lease land and you either hunt public or dont hunt.

Now Taking the primadonna circumstances out of the equasion and the question is where are you going to hunt?

No dam where if its all in a draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats the point.

Yeah I heard the same crap about the Brake. It wil be good this and that. BULLCHIT!!!!!!!!!!

Hell Man the folks that got drawn DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP 66-75% of the time. With no standby that just screwed all of us. Now the swingin dicks that went hunting somewhere else went to North of town. Guess what happens. With the new influx of people there are too many.
BIG SLUCKIN SUPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF it aint rocket science. The trend will continue untill you cannot just wake up one morning and go hunting.

What part of that can you not understand?

See heres the problem, the folks with the leases and private ground dont really give a crap. They think well I will just put in for the draw and if I get drawn then so be it.
THAT IS THE SELFISH ATTITUDE THAT WILL RUIN THE WHOLE DAM SHOOTING MATCH!

Mark my words, if this continues you might as well buy you lifetime AR lic now, because its OVER!

I report everything I kill and numbers I see EVERYTIME I go...... do they even bother of sending out a survey to the hunters thay actually follow the rules???? Nope.... BR549 I actuallly called and spoke with 3 diff people about why they dont ask people that actually use the areas what they should do to make it better..... I NEVER got a straight answer.

BR549 you are skirting my question.... I know what the resource can handle. Just because the STATE regulates man days on an area doesnt make the birds show up.... they will be here when they are here and gone when they are gone and that is why I dont want somebody to tell me when I can and can not hunt a place.... I am not going to go hunting just to say I went duck hunting but will find where the birds are and when I do find em I dont want the MDWFP or feds to tell me I cant hunt them cause I did not get drawn to hunt the days they where at that certain spot....

So BR549 you would not mind the feds or state boys telling you that you can not hunt your place but on days they tell you, you can?????? say your place is covered up all weekend but you cant hunt it and the days you can hunt there is nothing there.... this went on all year long... You are telling me you would be perfectly OK with that...

This exactly what the state is doing......

I was always under the impression that hunters were in decline.

What is really causing this is folks don't have respect for there fellow man. Fighting about spots, no mufflers, skybusting, leaving out decoys, sleeping in your boat all night and other stupid crap is what brings this on. The state will not allow the wma's to continue to be a zoo each morning. IF folks would regulate themselves it probably would not come to this.

I don't like the draw system b/c you might not get picked for a season and be stuck at home. I also think the draw system will cut back on hunters in general. Some will say that is a two edge sword and that it will increase quality hunts. I don't know. I do not that draw system sucks for hunting weather patterns.
