Not mad here, but it's not the land owners that drive the prices up it's the hunters. Why would a land owner not take more money?
Re: WMA MEETING DETAILS scatters draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree. But, buy you saying that its like jackin gas prices up after a disaster, and for some of these guys the scatters going to a draw could be a disaster.

Re: WMA MEETING DETAILS scatters draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have also been saying for a long while that this chit is gonna happen. I have said time and time again that these places going draw are displacing hunters and confining us to a smaller, more constricted area.
And we wonder why this type stuff will continue...it goes from the first few pages of "HELL YEAH LETS GIVE EM HELL BOYS!!!" to "Your a communist son of a bitch who doesn't like landowners."
It's pretty simple. The bitchers and whiners always get whay they want eventually. They whine and moan because so and so is always in that spot, his motor is too fast, blah blah blah. So the the GUBMENT MAN decides he'll, with the swipe of the mighty pen, do something about it.
Enforce the current rules. Stop the mandates. To the MDWFP : You want to know why license sales are dropping off? You have bitten the hand that feeds you. You have put politics ahead of logic, and in the process you are ruining a HERITAGE. If this continues I'd say in less than 10 years waterfowling will be a wealthy mans sport.
Traditions have to be sustained and passed on. Hard to pass on this tradition when the computer didn't draw your name. I'm afraid the beginning of the end is upon us-for this tradition.

Re: WMA MEETING DETAILS scatters draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the record who wants to head this up. The most important step is the first one. We gonna bitch on here or do something? I'm down for helping out.
I sent Polles an email when they started this draw crap that he, and others would be ran out of office if this continued. I think a large majority of waterfowlers demanding some resignations if reversals don't come would get it started. Although this is the governement it won't be that easy. These bureaucrats with their nice suits and long arms of the law are really starting to disenfranchise me and others in my generation, not to mention everyone else.
So 8 pages later...what should the first step be?

I mean honestly, who on here doesn't enjoy a good boat race?
Re: WMA MEETING DETAILS scatters draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you will live if you don't get to hunt there on the weekend, it's better during the week anyway. Calm down son it's not the end of the world and I duck hunt way more than a few times a year. Why would somebody that can hunt 60 day's out of the season be so greedy and mad?
I'm not being greedy but its going to get to the point where I can't go 60 days a year cause its all going to be a draw...
You still didnt answer my question.... Why are you in favor of the Scatter going to a draw when you thought the MB deal was a bad idea?? Why would you refer people to go to the Scatters if you hunted there and want it to go to a draw??
Why you gotta be a A-hole and needle everyone about it?
Still sounds to me like you just mad because you can't have your way on "PUBLIC" land!!!!!!!

Yeah i'm highly pissed off about this, as well as hundreds of other hunters across this state and every other state in the US....
Do a little research as to what has happened in other states that started down this path, MO #1.
As far as the public land comment... As long as I am within the regs I should be able to do it my way on public land, if i want to go I should be able to go, if I dont want to I wont but I should still have the ability to wake up and say I think i'm gonna go hunting today.
BR,
Think about all those people out there that absolutely love to duck hunt, but with there job they CAN NOT hunt week days... everything goes to draw and they dont get drawn for anything.... they dont get to hunt!!!!! put yourself in their position and quit being selfish....
Get em WET!............Their feet that is.

Exactly,
I think the first step is a wellwritten petition. Then we need to contact our representatives per respective regions, then we or they need to speak to the board of MSWF&P and Mabee. Mr. Polled. Petition needs to be ASAP and be distributed from Tupelo to Jackson.
Re: WMA MEETING DETAILS scatters draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this going to be for just the scatters or are we gonna try and reverse the draw at the break too? Just tell me were to sign....

Re: WMA MEETING DETAILS scatters draw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my first cup-o-cofee so I hope I make sense.
The first step would be to send a few well placed emails to the right individuals to let them know what is about to be underway. Then the petitioning process could start. However, before all this a clear SIMPLE goal should be made. What is it that's being pushed for? 90% of people won't take this seriously at first. Including MDWFP when they get these emails-because 90% don't ever pan out. However, I once read that "once a simple grass roots process gets underway it's a hard ball to keep from rolling." 1) A clear, simple goal 2) emails 3) petition 4) someone smarter than me for the next step.
You can ask Jeff Mangrum(sp) how much hell I can raise for 6 months. You have to stay calm but still be an azzhol-ish about it. It's quite an art. You have to be azzhol-ish because these guys have the, " I work for the governement syndrome" and they sometimes loose sight of who they are and who they work for. The key is to stay as calm as possible. If not both sides will be polarized, nothing will get done, and the side that is raising hell looses all credibility.
I don't hunt at the scatters anymore. I really don't have a dog in this race. In fact I caught ALOT more fish than killed ducks this year (in fact I'm now late for my fishing trip
). However I do like to remind politicians of who they are, they seem to forget, especially these days.
Getting politicians worked up is fun. And if you think about it...these days it's REALLY easy for ANYONE to get the government to do something. All you gotta do is raise a little hell and talk embarrassment, re-election whatever. This will be fun, and maybe...those stubborn bastards will do something about it.
Lemme know what I can do to help. I'd get a plan of action up and going with a goal in mind before the next step.
