Hunt the South part or Wax Lake outlet for ten years now. I love the coastal marsh and a neat place for sure. Mud motors are very prevalent there. You don't have to own one as an outboard will work but the island flats get very shallow and a mud motor can come in handy. It's a long ride however from the launch though. It's about 13 miles or so one way. So don't get in a hurry.

Weather channel show on right now about south LA...a lot of its in the basin.
