Kind of like Jackson dumpy in parts but it has its nicer areas... Crime is similar if not a little lower also. Never lived there just traveled back and forth a lot with a previous job.

Alot of rednecks and alot of red dirt. They don't go mud riding, they go "digging".
Overall good place from what I know. Don't go there often though.

Re: Shreveport, LA
There are some bad parts but majority of it is pretty safe from my experiences.
I have a lot of family over there and in Monroe and used to go a good bit.
Just like anywhere else, it will be what you make of it.

I lived there for four years. Shot a ton of ducks along the Red River. Not a bad place to live. Not like Ms or south La. Kinda like east Texas. I thought the food was the most dissappointing aspect. Lots of worse places to live.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

Really? I've been a couple of times and have found some good places. A must everytime I go is Strawn's and Superior (steakhouse, although I hear the grill is good too.) And let us not forget the immortal Sweep The Kitchen from Johnny's...
Re: Shreveport, LA
The sweep the swamp is better.....
Lived there for 4.5 years. Not too bad but it's the hottest and muggiest place I've lived in.

Strawn's is ok. Lots of dinners like that. They had a place called Joe's that had really good burgers. Murrels or whatever on Kings and Youree is crap. Famous but crap.
Superior is great. Good fajitias. I was just not overly impressed. Ofcourse I was stressed and broke most of the time

As far as the weather....... they get alot of hot dry weather in the summer and butt kickin cold in the winter. Weather systems that come down from the northwest still are pretty violent with some good winds when they hit Shreveport. The humidity is there. Not much different than Jackson. Probably a bit drier. Nothing is as bad as Gulf Coast cities like BR, N.Orleans, Mobile ect ect.
I do remember the "ladies" were pretty friendly.

What kind of job opening?

Quater of a million people and that MAYOR, NO thanks. I think I will just have to stay in Lodi.
Re: Shreveport, LA
You can work anywhere in Shreveport and drive 10-15 minutes and be out in the country. Great hunting and fishing in almost every direction. One of the top economy's anywhere in the nation. The Shreveport/Bossier City area is as good a place to live as you can find. And as to the Mayor. He is harder on his own kind than any Mayor the city has had in the last 30 years. Head and shoulders above the white guy that was the last Mayor.

Re: Shreveport, LA
You're may want to live in Bossier City...my wife still has family from there and grew up in Shreveport. As far as dining goes, go get you a Steak from The Cub...it will do nicely....
