Zydeco

Postby MudHog » Fri May 21, 2010 7:16 am

I love me some good zydeco and some old french music. Listening to Polyester Power Hour and "My Toot Toot" is playing on the radio. I remember as a kid going to my grandparents (mom's side) on Sundays and they'd always have KBON or the such on and old french music playing.

Oui, mon cher! I had the vinyl 45 of "My Toot Toot" that I'm surprised didn't melt as many times as I played it on my Fisher Price record player! Those were the days--riding the field roads with Paw Paw, windows down, cranking that good old staticky AM Cajun chank-a-chank! 8)

before my wife and I started dating she would get tickets to the dances at Cypress Bayou and go with them. She was always grabbing some old men to dance with. When I bartended a private hall, I'd always work the CFMA (Cajun French Music Association) monthly meetings. Never forget, always serve a cup of ice to old men who order a beer.

Yeah, alot of the newer stuff like that is kind of like country turning into pop country. Now zydeco is still a fast beat type of music, it's just the newer stuff is a little faster if you want to call it that. You need to listen to you some Buckwheat Zydeco.
