Saudi Arabia is the seat of the holy land for millions in the region, yet they have done nothing to protect it. That is stupid politics, and what happens is towers get knocked down by guys so intent on preserving the integrity of their religion that they will die for it.

Afganistan was about this, Iran, Iraq one and of course Iraq 2. This entire thing revolves around a long standing need for connections into this area for resources, trust me, nobody in the whitehouse give a flying hooty tooty about the Iraqi people and neither do americans. They didnt care about Iranians when they loaded Sadam for bear the first time, they didnt care about the Russians or the Afganians when they loaded up the Taliban and taught Osam and many others how to kick booty over there. They cared about the oil, and thats all they still care about.

It was not about oil in Afghanistan. The Russians went in there like Hitler did in WWII. We were trying to keep Russia from starting what someone should have stopped the Germans from doing in WWI &WWII!

Call an apple an apple. It's the same principal that started the war in Korea and Vietnam. It was all about containment of communism.

As for what you said about the Muslims attacking us because we're degrading their cities, that's bull too. Do some philisophical reading about the Islamic faith. It's founded on war. Do some history, read about the crusades. Tell me that America is the great satan. C'mon.....try me...

Walmarts price is high because OPEC is united. Usually they can not stand firm on price controls. Wonder why the OPEC countries are so well motivated now?

We did go for oil. We have arranged for Haliburton to process it. Why them?

The bottom line for the oil motivation theory, which I believe was one motivator for the war decision, is that we won the war and we now control the country (and its oil) and we are now "nation building". When we give over control of Iraq to the Iragis (sp?), we will have inroads and a good measure of control over what they decide to do and we hope to count them as an ally and someone we could count on to supply oil to us if the other countries decide not to supply any more oil to us. It is kind of like being the major contributor to ones re-election campaign - you can call them up and tell them what you want done.

This is what I think about the war for oil subject. What do you think?

That's exactly where I was headed before I had to dash out this morning. The price of crude oil just hit a multi-decade high earlier this week. If Bush is stealing or controlling all of the oil from Iraq, what the heck are we doing with it?

( in all fairness Benny, you may even be right. It just sounds so far fetched to me, that I can't possibly believe it. And I certainly don't think this stolen oil is being sold on the open market. )

We did do it for the oil, IMHO, and rightly so. To hell with the Muslims. Allah and God are the same entity? Everyone that ever sat in pre-school Sunday School and heard the story of Jacob's sons knows that. But back to the oil. I'm primarily concerned about myself and, more importantly, my family. And you, my friends, my neighbors and my fellow country men. You see, I could care less that a country on the other side of the world lives in the stone ages or that they stone women for bearing children out of wedlock and rule even themselves by terror. What I care about is the continued prosperity of America and its remaining the (THE) world super power. Because what's good for the country is good for me, my family and the rest of the country. My home and heritage are here in midle Mississippi, not the middle east. It's HERE that I can run my mouth and pontificate all the atrocities - whether real or perceived - of my government without reprieve, or worse - not in the midle east.

We're not a super power because of money. We've been on a fiat monetary system since we abandoned the gold standard: you can print more and more and more money day in and day out. Oil. Oil is power. Global power. It makes the world go round and without it we're all living in little houses on the prairie! Remove oil from the equation and overnight we're ALL living in the stone ages. And I'd rather not, but thanks nonetheless.

So it's ok for the EU to reduce the US to a third world country? Did you know that the US dollar is the standard by which oil is traded on the international market? Did you know that Saddam agreed to reset Iraquian-produced oil to the euro; that the 3 biggest driving forces in the European Union are Russia, Germany and France? And guess: to which three countries was Iraq most heavily indebted via the food for oil program? Hell NO they didn't support the war! They wanted it and, more importantly - the power!! And besides how were they gonna get their money back from a dead man or prisoner???

King Arthur's round table rule: might makes right. It's no different today than it was then. I'll support the American government bombing anybody, anywhere at anytime to ensure the true freedom and prosperity enjoyed today.

Americans wouldnt have to kill people for oil if they didnt use 22 times more of it than any other peoples on the planet. Americans are gluttonous wasteful people, and I believe that god did say that is a sin.
If every female in america wasnt driving a 13 MPG Suv around,
gas wouldnt BE $1.67 a gallon and we wouldnt have any problems getting it either.
