Lodi wins  That's the best advice I have ever seen for teal season.
Hot, Bugs, snakes, gators!
Of course if Aweyerman is hanging out on Guntersville, you might add to look out for buzz baits flying at you as a less than courteous "Bass Man" looks for that lunker in your decoys.

find some shallow water that they like, get concealed and be where they want to be and you should do okay. as others have said watch for skeeters and snakes. not alot to hunting them after you find them. finding them is the key.

We are better than you, you are wrong...dont use spinners...you call to much...you arent from MS...im a baby...too many hunters on public land...it burns whne i pee....you want info on my personal spots...i am a comedian...we are the best dunck hunters that have ever lived and by god we are going to tell the world over the internet

lets all be serious...its duck hunting...

it should be fun, its not about the number of ducks you kill or what kind or where... its about having a good time...and ultimately allowing the sport to grow to support habitat and positive legislation...we want duck for our kids to look up to us about...

we can tell them about the good ol days...not about the days where the disorganized duck hunbters all ahted each other and anyone that wanted to try the sport. Deer hunters arent that way, they embrace newcombers (sometimes) and turkey hunters love calling in brids to see someone else shoot. Now give me all your GPS coordinates or i will throw a little fit.

i love you guys man..you all can have all the ducks...ill sit in the gulf of mexico and hope a stray bluebill flys by, while my dog watches the sky and whimpers, just so everyone else can have all the fun.. You all deserve it more than me. I shouldnt even try. Thats the american way.

PS ill send the pictures of my trip to Argentina when i get back

such a hard life :)

Here in florida we have good success with spinners in the early season. for some reason the teal love the motion and often land right next to the spinner. the rest of the year spinners are not as effective. I wouldn't leave mine at home in the early season. we are mainly hunting shallow flooded fields. often one of our impoundments is were all the birds are and with pressure they go in search of other areas to sit. a spinner sucks em in anywhere on the periphery of the main field. great decoying birds.

I have good luck with 2.75" #6's.

Ok to all that gave sound advice thank you. To you few other guys... what's wrong with you? Unlike some know it all people that were raised duck hunting I have taught myself everything that I know and noone was ever there hold my hand or help me along. Trust me, I've put in just as much or more work over the past few years since I've started waterfowling than everyone I've met or know and this is the reason for my continuous success. Not because I'm an internet scouter and want to hunt your draw system wma's or steal your places or hunt your birds, after all I only get to shoot at the birds that get lost. What is with some of you Mississippi duck hunters disliking and looking down at Alabama duck hunters? That is neither here nor there and I really don't care to know, everyone is entitled to their own "special" opinion. I have mine and you have yours so carry on. Now on to the subject at hand.

Big ducks I don't really have a problem with, teal have evaded me the last few years and the season is so short I don't have alot of time to try the usual deductive reasoning. So I thought I might ask. Mostly because others have come to me asking for advice and I have none to give other than to scout and think shallow, NOT because bwt are neccesarily any tougher to hunt than any other duck. Just thought that I could be overlooking something that might could be overly helpful with upping one's success rating. I've found a couple of birds and wish everyone that asked me to take them could go and get in on the action, sadly as we all know this is not the case.

Again, thanks to all that gave their honest opinions and helpful tips.

Off Off Off Off Off Off Off OOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFF. Cant stress it enough, I prefer to wear snake chaps over my rubber boots but I hunt private land and it is only a foot or so deep, whats good for attracting the a teal is also good for attracting Copper mouthed Cotton headed Rattlemocasins. I would also suggest take water cause you will be hot.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

If you find them, burn them while you can. Because after they get shot, they will be gone. 10 minute limits on sat, means not a bird to be seen on sunday.

buttfly the breasts and soak them in eye-talin dressing and tony's. wrap with a little bacon, and grill rare. thrown them on a bun with a slice of onion and you got the best sammich the outdoors can provide. travis

To get into teal, their flights (through your particular area) need to coincide with the season dates. Not much different than with big ducks and woodcock - except a 9-14 day teal season is a very narrow window of opportunity.

A lot of factors produce 'good' opportunities - in this case, it's mostly about timing.

You won't know whether the timing is right without a certain amount of preparation like scouting and having your stuff ready.
