Question for the attorneys on the site
Re: Question for the attorneys on the site
I know plenty of attorneys (including my father-in-law) who are spinning their wheels billing clients who can't pay their bills. Plenty of small and medium law firms are losing their shirts because too much of their work was based on the housing industry, and now they have nothing. Still some bancruptcy and divorces, but no home closings, contracts, emininent domain, etc. Without housing and small business starts, small-town law firms cannot survive.

Re: Question for the attorneys on the site
thanks this helps me a good bit. i have been looking at the executive law school program at MC which you can take and still work. i have a really good job with excellent benefits and pretty good pay. i have the flexibility to work and go to school in a program like MC is offering. My employer does educational reimbursment of up to around $6k per year so I was hoping for another option other than MC which I figured to be upwards of $25k per year for the executive program. Just wanted some feedback and I appreciate all who provided some. Not really wanting a short cut just trying to figure a way to juggle my job, family life and the expense of law school. not worried about job placement when I get out at this point as I already have a plan if and when I graduate. I realize it seems like a rather dumb question to have asked but with so many different online offerings now I was wishful thinking that it may work and i cant stand the thought of student loans as I went thru my undergrad program with no debt. Thanks again for all the feedback

Re: Question for the attorneys on the site
Lip, I went back in 2005 and finished my under grad in 2007. I hate to say it but it was actually fun the 2nd time around. 1st time I struggled to pass but the 2nd time around GPA 3.85. I need 12 hours and write a paper to get my MBA. I too have thought about law school and your thread answered a few questions for me.

yes i hear that the second time around you take it much more serious. i never ever ever thought i would want to be an attorney when i was in undergrad. it is just hard to think about the cost of tuition at MC but it looks like that will be my only option.

Just remember to tie a pillow to the back of your head before you open that first bill. Don't want you to crack your skull when you pass out. My wife's 3 semesters of grad school loans were 3 times what my undergrad loans were. Good luck to ya.lipsplitter39654 wrote:yes i hear that the second time around you take it much more serious. i never ever ever thought i would want to be an attorney when i was in undergrad. it is just hard to think about the cost of tuition at MC but it looks like that will be my only option.
