First off........it isn't a black bear. The sucker is brown for political correctness. Within 5 years, Ole Miss will no longer be the Rebels.

The Rebel Mascot Selection Committee announced this morning that the Rebel Black Bear won the online vote for the new on-field mascot for the University of Mississippi Rebels.

The committee made the recommendation to Ole Miss leaders Wednesday night following an analysis of the latest poll of Ole Miss students, faculty, staff, alumni and season ticket holders. Sixty-two percent of those polled supported the Rebel Black Bear, the committee announced in a news release. The Rebel Land Shark drew 56 percent support, and Hotty Toddy drew 42 percent.

I guess Ole Miss math is different than Miss State because most polls use the 100% factor. Those 3 add up to 160%.

It doesn't say "supported only" - it says "supported". Obviously the poll allowed voters to support more than one mascot concept.

That's correct, on each mascot you could basically vote on each one along the lines of: hate it, could live with it, or love it.

It wasn't a vote, it was a survey, they just conveniently passed it along as a "vote"

heard that this morning on the news that it was a "got out and vote speech", then heard later on radio that it was a dual task....the get out and vote, as well as showing support for travis childers (and ole miss didn't know about the latter until this morning as there were 2 separate press releases).

An embarassing and tragic day for Ole Miss. IF it wasn't already bad enough these politically correct f&%$K puddles even brought in Bill Clinton!! When will it cease?...it won't! No Colonel Reb, No flag, No Dixie, Eventually No "OLE" Miss or rebel. Pitiful.! ..our strong suit, even with mediocre athletics was TRADITION, and pride in that tradition... thats being taken away almost on a daily basis, now what is left will be just mediocre athletics.
