Sandhills?

Postby kris Schaumburg » Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:29 am

Is anybody planning to go for cranes in TX this year? Seems like a really neat trip. Always wanted to try it out.

I've been on that hunt, but I think ours was the last. But ask Ramsey, cause I could very well be wrong.

I want one so bad. Really seems like a doable weekend drive, especially if you had Friday off.

I can put you on sandhills, however it's a primitive [quiet] weapon only hunt. Spot and stalk kind of deal. Matter of fact I almost ran over a pair an hour ago in my truck.

Best crane hunt we ever had, guy went out of business. Stuffer decoys. The area between Lubbock and Amarillo best area I ever hunted, love that area. I dare say they're some of my favorite birds. Got a pair shoulder mounted in a shadow box by what's his face, one of the most interesting, favorite mounts I have, haven't hunted them since. They are probably my favorite game bird to eat.

Georgia's a helluva photographer.
