Barbour, as much as I like him, does not stand a chance...he is fat and talks too country. Those are facts...facts that shouldn't matter but they do. Gingrich is a political has been with too much baggage.

I have heard the ticket of Chris Christy (New Jersey government slashing governor) and Mark Rubio (charismatic son of Cubans, college football player and newly minted senator) as a potential presidential ticket. I think that would be pretty much unbeatable. There are too many advantages of that ticket to list, which means that it probably will not happen. Amongst the advantages would be the fact that the Rs basically set themselves up for control of the executive branch for 16 years.

Edit: Palin is the living personification of the cheesy conservative email forwards that are proven to be false on snopes. She is horrible and may, may have the intelligence of your average bank teller...no offense to bank tellers.

Christy would be a good choice as well. What he has done in his state in the year he has been in office is pretty impressive. He has managed to slash spending while having a Democratic state congress. That appears to be good leadership.

Also, this is a pretty good read. It is Jim DiMent's letter to the new Senators. Another reason I like Jim DiMent.

I wouldn't be opposed to a Romney/Barbour ticket....

All valid points.

Palin= too far out/controversial. She could however cause big problems by causing a divide amongst the conservative vote. I definitely think it's time for her to shut up.

Barbour= Great choice, but too white and Southern to get elected nationally. Lets face it, a white guy from anywhere south of the MAson Dixon line doesn't stand a chance in todays political climate.

Gingrich= See both above. White, Southern, past controversy.... Folks in Cali will vote against him just to spite themselves.

Romney= May be the best nationally choice, but still white, and his state is in a fimancial/ healthcare mess. Also has a Ken Doll plastic MAnchurian Candidate look to him.

Huckabee= Don't think he'll run, at least not as a presidential candidate. Maybe VP, but he's too good of a guy to throw the mud thats necessary to win. And he's too "Christian" to be electable on a national level. The dems would vilify him for his beliefs and have the country believing he'd force everyone to go to church. Not a bad thing, but not something that gets you elected.

Some of the folks on here living in La. could probably give a little better insight on it, but I think Bobby Jindall may actually be a relatively good choice. He seems to have handled several La. issues well, is moderately to the right of center, has gotten some pretty positive national media exposure, and most importantly these days, is NOT WHITE, which in my humble opinion, why Osama/bama got elected in the first place.

Whoever it's gonna be, the Republican party needs to step up quickly and get a face and a message out there. Obama, like Clinton, is a great campaigner/ public speaker. The conservative side of the world needs to get a jump start on the 2012 elections if we hope to capitolize on yesterday's wins.
