@#$% goverment and ins. co.
I have a speical need's child that I insured for 10 yrs till it got so high that it was hard to afford,so we swallowed our pride and got him on medi (something) cade or care don't know which.Back in the spring they informed us we no longer quilified we got him back on private ins almost $400 a mo. yesterday they (Humana) notified us that it was going up to $850 a mo. because of preexisting condition,he had seizers but has not had 1 in 9yrs.How in the hell do they think a working class couple can afford this?So I might get in trouble for this but FU@K the goverment and the ins. co. This my rant for the day.

Go back and look at the medicare option again. There have been numerous changes since last Spring. Carry group as primary and medicare as second and everything will be covered. I'm assuming he has a social security disability ruling.

You definitely need to check in it deeper. If he's truly Special Needs (by their definition).....he's supposed to be able to be on Medicaid or Medicare no matter what your income is. I have Special Needs patients at my office all the time. Also, check on Obama's new laws. Don't know when each one goes in effect but pre-existing conditions will no longer be an issue. Also, are you able to get on a group insurance plan through either of y'alls jobs? Most group plans don't have a pre-existing condition clause either.digger wrote:I have a speical need's child that I insured for 10 yrs till it got so high that it was hard to afford,so we swallowed our pride and got him on medi (something) cade or care don't know which.Back in the spring they informed us we no longer quilified we got him back on private ins almost $400 a mo. yesterday they (Humana) notified us that it was going up to $850 a mo. because of preexisting condition,he had seizers but has not had 1 in 9yrs.How in the hell do they think a working class couple can afford this?So I might get in trouble for this but FU@K the goverment and the ins. co. We'r not as bad off as some we see really bad case's at the dr. all the time we'r lucky in many way's.He's not on ss disibilty he got on with a seiziur disorder, has not had 1 in 9yrs and off med's for alittle over a yr. and that is why he no longer qulifies so we were told. But ins. goes with preexisting even though it's been that long and thus the rate increase. They (ins co.)has to write even though he has preexisting but will raise the rate's so high you can't afford it, that's their way around the new law's about having to write for preexisting. He's been on privet ins since June so along with the rate increase they say we will have to make up the differance from what we'v been paying and the increase from June till now that's around $2,400.I told my wife they could suck my pecker and sue me and if the judge ruled for them I'd tell him I had more time than money and he could suck it also.

No doubt that you are correct, that's a lot of money but the story goes a little deeper and maybe this will offer a bit of an explantion. The Obamacare plan requires that all children cannot be denied coverage regardless of pre existing conditon. So, when a company is required to take kids with (for example) Downs Syndrome Cancer, etc. costs must go up for everyone. Keep in mind, if they are going to stay in business and pay claims they must collect enough premium to make it happen. Obamacare will result in higher premiums, there's no way around it.digger wrote:I have a speical need's child that I insured for 10 yrs till it got so high that it was hard to afford,so we swallowed our pride and got him on medi (something) cade or care don't know which.Back in the spring they informed us we no longer quilified we got him back on private ins almost $400 a mo. yesterday they (Humana) notified us that it was going up to $850 a mo. because of preexisting condition,he had seizers but has not had 1 in 9yrs.How in the hell do they think a working class couple can afford this?So I might get in trouble for this but FU@K the goverment and the ins. co. While Obamacare did not start a single payer systme per se, it set the stage for a single payer system to happen. It requires employers to carry health insurance or pay a fine. There will come a point where the fine is cheaper than the premium and they will opt to pay the fine. This will in effect become a tax to fund the single payer system as more and more opt to go that route.

I guess each of us has their own story but mine just came about the other day also. Granddaughter that has Downs Syndrome and been on medicaide sense birth just got turned down and single mom can not afford insurance. Her special needs are around 600 a month. Wife on disibility with monthly meds costing round $700 per month not counting doctor visits. I am just glad we can handle it, I dont know what I would do if I couldn't. A so called good friend of mine is State Rep. and I sent him a email about my granddaughter and I have not heard anything from him wonder when he comes up for election if he is going to call.
