Winchester Super X2.....Opinions Please

Postby Bill Collector » Thu Dec 02, 2010 7:47 am

Guys,
I'm thinking about buying my son a Winchester Super X2. It looks brand new and has only had about 1/2 a box shot through it. The guy wants $450. What are ya'll opinion on these guns. Thanks

I would jump on that. My buddy has one and hasn't had any problems out of it. He's had it a few years now.

I've been shooting one this season and really like it so far. For $450 I'd snatch it up.

The question to ask is "If the SX2 is such a good gun, why did Winchester come out with the SX3?" I know a lot of people that have had problems with them. Another question might be why it is being sold? JMO as I had several and sold them all.

I've had my SX2 for over 10 years. If you don't buy it, send me the guys name and info and I will come steal it from him.

Best gun I have ever owned. Several thousand rounds have gone through mine and I've never had a minute trouble out of it.

To answer someone elses question, they came out with the SX3 for ergonomic reasons. It's lighter and easier handling. It also retails
for $1000 + Again, if you aren't going to buy it from the guy, hook me up with contact info. I'll buy it from him.

I bought mine last year from a guy on this site. It has improved my shooting a lot, and not once has it failed to cycle on waterfowl ammunition or high brass. Any field load, low brass, shell is going to give you trouble. Ideally, I'd like the camo SX2 with duratouch finish with a 3" receiver. Problem is, that gun doesn't exist.

Had one for years and it has never failed. Why did Winchester come out with the Super X 3??? Same reason camo companies come out with different patterns every year, bow companies come out with a new bow every year, and other gun companies come out with new guns. It's not that they are necessarily any better than the prior model, it's to keep them fresh in the eyes of their customers and sell product. If everybody bought something that is going to last a good long time and they never change it the company would have a hard time staying in business.

Same reason that car companies come out with new models every year. Easier to sell "new sizzle" than the same old steak.

Had mine about 10 years, love it. Granted I don't hunt everyday like most guys on here but it has never failed me. First couple of years I had it, I put it through the paces pretty good and it always did the job.

Wouldn't that be like asking why Chevy came out with a 2010 truck when the 2009 worked fine? No company stays i business if they don't improve their products.

ive had mine since they first hit they market. the only problem i had was every now and then it woudnt fire. i sent it to browning and they fixed it up for $92. the gas piston spring broke, but other than that it is the go to gun i own. mine is the 3 1/2, and it shoots more 3.5 shells a year than 2 3/4 shells.

Thanks for all the replys. My son's gun stopped shooting last Sat morning and the local gunsmith I took it to told me that the next time the Mayor did "Guns for Gas Cards" I should take it and get me a tank of gas. It is a Stoger Luger that I got from my Bro in Law.....

Bought mine week before Katrina and never had a problem that wasn't operator induced. If it's 3.5 I'll give you 50 dollar finders fee if you don't want it. You can still get a brand new one think 799
