Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I bought 2 on impulse buy while at walmart. They were only $59 each and I thought I would give them a try. I wondered if someone with experience with them could explain black pictures. I have them on 24 hr mode. Takes good pics during daylight but black at night. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere to make it flash?
It is a very basic camera which is what I expected for the money. We have others so this is not a what's the best camera post. I know these are not the best but if I can get them to work they will be good extras. I emailed company today also. Just thought maybe somebody had some experience with them.
Thanks
Kenny

Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I've got 4 IR4's and 2 IR2's and so far I have got over 1000 pics on at least 3 of em and still have over 1/2 battery life left! I have been fairly pleased with the picture quality too. Trigger speed is not that great but if placed by feeder, rub or scrape, they do fine for the money. Good thing about buying them from academy or walmart is>>>If they quit working, just take em back and get another!
Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I just bought one of the IR/flash 6 mp cameras. It operates on 4 d-cell batteries I've taken over 100 pix thus far and still have full battery.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
Thanks for replies. Maybe mine have a bad flash or something. I'll give the company a day to respond and then just take them back to walmart if they don't have a solution.

i bought the x6c, its an infared camera. runs on 8 AA Batteries. Battery life is great and picture quality if good. can be a little fuzzy if the deer are moving very much.

Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I have 2 of the cheaper 1.3mb cameras as well. They do eat some batteries if flash is turned on. Will take 4-500 pics with flash off, but around 150-200 with flash on. Mine just started the black pics as well. I think it may have something to do with temps. Batteries were brand new in mine when put out. Came back 2 weeks later to check and only 50 pics and batteries were dead (it was +/-25 degrees at night). The first 25 or so pics were fine, but the remaining pics were darker and the logo at the bottom was black & fuzzy (stopped taking pictures after 2 days). After warming up in the truck, it started working fine. Brought it home and used it with the same batteries for another week or so. Don't know if the batteries were junk or the cameras just don't like extreme cold.
Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I bought one and it did ok in.daylight but night time photos were white. I emailed the company to see if I was doing something wrong. I explained I could see deer fine in daylight photos. They replied, and I quote, is your game camera indoors or outside and do you have anything reflective in front of the camera. I responded, I had to move the camera outside the deer couldn't seem to work the knob on the door, and the big mirror in the middle of my food plot seemed to spook them as well so I took it down. Last one of their products I purchase!

Nope. It will work when I test it at my house. But I get black pics in the field. I can't figure it out. Never got a reply from company. Battery makes sense. I may try one more time.

JUNK, just returned the 2 pack I had bought at bass pro back to them.
Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
a trick to save on batteries on this camera. Get a 7amp battery, like used on children's toys. Take a DC type plug for any type of electronic device, cut the plug for outlet off, strip the wire 1/2", get some type of box (small ammo can works great), drill a small hole in it, run your wire through the hole, crimp the appropriate connectors to the exposed wire. Connect the wires to the battery, place the battery in the box. Plug the other end into the camera's dc outlet when ready to use the camera. I took almost 3 thousand pictures when i put it out over labor day weekend. I had the low battery light come on when I checked it on Dec 4. The battery i bought cost $26 and the ammo can was $6.00. I charged it up and set it up again. This is going to save alot of money. The quality of the pictures are okay if the deer are close. Mine takes 3 pictures every time the sensor is triggered.
Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I guess I should say why the ones I had were junk.
One, only took black pictures except for one bright white one so I know the flash was working.
Two, the pictures it took were daytime, and pretty good quality. However, I had it set to the fastest setting to take the most pictures. It only took one per event, and only 4 pics in a week. One of those were of me after I set it up, and one was as I took it down. I was walking slowly up to it so it shoud have snapped more. One pic was of someone else passing through, and one was of a deer that had made its way in front of it and was licking a salt lick before it went off.
A friend of mine has the little bit more expensive camera by this brand and it takes good pics and worked fine. I wont buy another based on my experiences though.

Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
Well, I went to camp this weekend expecting to have a few pics of the buck(s) that were tearing the woods up, WRONG...the camera quit working. Something came loose inside it (I don't know what it was, but they did) SO, I called them up they gave me a RMA and are sending me an upgraded 2010 model as a replacement. (maybe he could tell I was a little pissed when we talked on the phone) Anyway, it worked good in the backyard, and got one picture of a large doe in the woods then went kapoot. It actually worked so well that I ordered another one THEN had the problem with the first one, maybe this one will have the same problem and I'll get an upgrade from them on it too!!! (I really hope not, it's not worth the hassle) If you're having a problem with a camera call their customer service number inside the door of the unit.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Re: Anybody use wildgame innovation trail cameras?
I will say that they offered to replace mine once they got back to me. I think the problem with the cheaper version I have is battery related. It seems when temps drop, the flash can not pull enough power from battery. I tested inside with new battery and it worked fine. Put outside when temp was 28 and it took first pic no problem. Went back outside after camera was out for 2 hrs and no flash. I am sending back to company for replacement and will then return to walmart for refund.
