Ask DS:MUW

Postby mudsucker » Mon Jan 24, 2011 10:56 pm

Has anyone on here have a wife or daughter attend the "W"? Our daughter is looking into small colleges here in state as well as out of state. If y'all had someone who attended, please tell us the good as well as the bad about the W so mama and I can pass it along to Emily! Thank you in advance!

I know it is not just for women anymore. Supposedly a very good nursing school.

Joe - my wife was miss W (figuratively and literally). She went there all four years and then worked there while waiting on me to finish 6 years at state... she loves that place. Any specific questions give me a shout

Don't forget Millsaps. An outstanding school and a better education.

My wife did here graduate work at the W, and has nothing but good things to say about the school, staff, and administration. Though maybe not as prestigious as some schools, graduates of the W seem to be highly sought after and esteemed in the workplace.

No offense to any of those.......but it's crazy to pay for a high dollar education in our state. MS College is waaaaaay overpriced.....i'm still paying them off for my wife. If you want a small univ. for a good education don't forget Delta State as well. It really depends on what she is looking at doing. Certain universities in the state prepare you much more for certain degrees and post graduate educations. I'd be scared of how long the W is going to be around.......it's one of the 3 the Legislature keeps mentioning.

I went to a "high priced" private college and I can say that "you get what you pay for" is just not the case when it comes to most private undergraduate and graduate institutions in the South. I've seen that mentality employed most often by people trying to justify the $40K a year they're spending on school.
