Dr. Swinestine has undergone a little "restructuring". Clint went and built a 26 foot enclosed bad booty trailer and is doing his own thing and kept the name. Br59 I hope some land stays out at woodstock. I don't think any of the houses have gotten water in the past. From what I understand, woodstock is one of the highest points on the river in that area. I would hate to lose all of those big deer we have raised for years. I guess we will find out pretty soon.

Its been my experience that the deer will swim out to higher ground and come right back when it goes down. My club is one of the lowest around and we flood nearly every year. We have a pile of deer. Now on some islands and places they might not be able to find any higher ground before they drown. I got a feeling that this flood is gonna take awhile to overcome. I always heard my old man say that the 73 flood changed the woods a lot. If this is several feet higher, then who knows.

Ive thought about this . . . it for sure didnt have any effect after 08. But if things get really bad, and the woods were barren for a few years then it could drive them downward. If nothing else maybe it will keep prices at the current level for a longer period vs. the appreciation we are used to seeing? Who knows really.

This flood could affect lands OUTSIDE the levees, too....imagine what the delta will look like, if all of the bayous, rivers, and streams are already backed outta their banks from the River flooding, THEN, another 5-6 inches of rain falls....no where for it to go, except spread across the delta.

UHHHH we are inside the levees The river is OUTSIDE the levees! Yea I would say it's definately going to effect all lands outside the levee!

Most everything in the south delta is getting some water on it now. Appx 87 ft MSL at the south end now. Theres prolly already 100k plus acres under water in the south delta now.

Now as far as you people trying to guess wether or not a certian river stage MIGHT get you or not why dont you simply have your elevations shot? No guessing then. 48 fett on and old AR City guage 3 years ago I can bet you won't be the same today! Use their conversion factors to find out the MSL levels for your area then you will know.


EX: Helena 0 nav is 141.7
take that figure then add it to the projected crest and you have the elevation in MSL that it will cover or reach.
AR City is now 96.7
Greenville is 74.9
Vicksburg is 46.2

So if you are in the Greenville area say on Woodstock and Greenvill is expecting a 60 ft river then everything under 140ft land elevation in that vicinity will be under water! Don't think there is much land on any of those islands that high!

Those numbers can't be right. I know elevations of cabins at Merigold and Catfish. Our lowest one at merigold has an elevation of 144 and will certainly be 3/4 of it under water.....it was 5-6 feet under in 2008.

The runout by Catfish is about 20 miles upstream of the Arkansas City gauge. For this flood you you need to add 1/2 ft per River mile to adjust the stage for head coming down the River. Arkansas City is projected to crest at 48.5 + 96.66 (gauge elevation) + 10 (1/2' * 20 miles) = 155.1 ft

We were looking at some LIDAR elevation data for merigold yesterday, there will be a few ridges out but not much...

Not in '08 it was still just north of Ashbrook! Might not have been exactly 20 miles but pretty darn close!

TUNICA, Miss. – Emergency personnel in Tunica, Mississippi will be closing area casinos over the next several days due to rising water levels that could affect access to and from the properties.

Officials planned to close Resorts Casino on Thursday and Bally's Casino Friday. All visitors must be off the property by 2 p.m. each day.

Should the threat of rising water exist through the weekend, Fitz Casino, Hollywood Casino, Sam's Town Casino and Harrah's Casino will close on Sunday, May 1.

GoldStrike Casino, Horseshoe Casino and Roadhouse Casino are scheduled to close on Monday, May 2.

Officials said the anticipated closing schedule is based on current forecasts and is subject to change based on weather conditions

i know it sucks that the water is getting this high and going to flood soo much, but i want to see pictures since i am not going to get to see the biggest flood of my life so far, hell i don't get to see any water unless it is in a bottle. i miss my boat! When it gets real high, Dan P. take me some pictures for me. i don't imagine the culverts at Wolf lake are a concern right now huh! My phone will ring this winter though. Too low, too high!!

I am actually about to head to Greenville now to get in a plane to take pictures of the flooding for work. I will try and send you a couple! I imagine this is the first trip of many like it.

Heavy rain is forcasted from Texarkana to Memphis and on from there.

NWS out of Memphis is calling for 3 to 5 inches widespread with up to 7 locally with lesser amounts in North Miss. Weather models have all this going over the Tennessee and Ohio basins as well.
