At this forecast the Yazoo Backwater Levee will OVERTOP by 1.3’! The Yazoo Backwater Area could be entirely flooded. The Corps is working on an inundation map so we can see exactly what will be flooded. Hopefully I will get a copy of that map tomorrow. This could flood up to elevation 109’. If you are located on property at or below 109’ you might get flooded.

Well this tops off a bad day. New prediction puts the crest 6 inches from the top of the sea wall here and 4 foot in the camp in Deer Park with a 65 at Natchez. Hope the Birds Point levee breach will give us a little relief.

Flood map for Wolf Lake area @ 108. Not Good.

Re: River is fixing to get serious, boys!!!
Blue is water by the way...
Re: River is fixing to get serious, boys!!!
Don't believe there is any land over 100 in Holly Bluff. There were a couple houses that did not flood in '73 but they were built up off the ground.DanP wrote:Will shortly. Re: River is fixing to get serious, boys!!!
Anyone got any idea what level it's supposed to get to by eagle lake, on that side of things? Would that be 109 as well! I've got a friend who's out if town working and trying to find out about his place?

Looks like our lodge is 95' by google maps. Our tractor shed looks to be about 110'. Guess I'll be getting my toys out of there pretty soon.

Re: River is fixing to get serious, boys!!!
This may be a silly question, but WILL the main MS River levees hold back all this water!!!???
Re: River is fixing to get serious, boys!!!
I know they said between Memphis and south would get its real 1st test on all this.
Right now everything is flooded in MEM. Some parts of city are being evacuated now.
From the pictures I posted earlier on this thread they are now saying the river will move up over the riverside road and to the upper levee.
Just hope everyone is prepared south of us and wish all of you the best of luck.
I have a question
With this levee being broken up north will this help down south any? Like keep it from raising more or what. I know they were talking about blowing a levee somewhere in MEM sometime this week. Then another one in or around Dyersburg, Tn. I dont know alot about all this except what I have learned from you guys.

Nothing up north will really help down here. I don't know of another fuse plug (designed breach) other than Birds Pointlevi127 wrote:I know they said between Memphis and south would get its real 1st test on all this.

Nope.levi127 wrote:With this levee being broken up north will this help down south any?
Q & A – Peter Nimrod of the Mississippi Levee Board
Will intentionally breaching the New Madrid Levee in Missouri help lower the River Stages here in Mississippi?
Answer – NO. The same water that will flow through the breach will find its way back into the River. Therefore, we will see no benefit with or without this breach.
Will opening the Floodways (Morganza) above New Orleans help lower the River Stages here in Mississippi?
Answer – NO. Natchez will be the northern most point on the MS River that will see any benefit with the operation of these floodways.

Thats no levee above riverside drive. Thats a natural bluff. Only very small portions of memphis can flood that are built in floodways like nonconnah creek and along wolf river. The majority of town is something like 300 feet above sea level. It would flood all the way to crowley's ridge in arkansas before memphis floods. Just a little FYI there.
