First cars

Postby Seymore » Fri May 06, 2011 10:17 pm

Just thinking about my first car. It was a '63 Corvair convertable. Bet some of you have never even seen one of those. God I loved that car. Had a turbo charged pancake Spyder six in the rear and would flat out haul booty. I left many a v8 eating dust on McDowell Road in school. They'd catch me at the next light and always want me to pull over to look at just what the Hell I had in that thing. Fastest I ever got it was 130 on a straight away on Midway Road going home one moon lit night. God was with me being young and stupid because there were several farms in the area that ran Black Angus. They would have had to strain the gravel to get enough to bury.

What were some of y'alls first cars?

1977 Ford F100, blue and gray, glass packs, white wall tires. Dad bought it new in '77 and was his daily driver until I was 16 in '99. Loved that truck.

Old beat up red '64 Ford Galaxy stationwagon named "Rocket"....I was the envy of---------nobody..........but, it was a chick magnet...........duct-taped an old 8-track tape player on the dash, and listened to Elvis and the Beatles....back seats folded down, put in a air mattress, and me and some ole gal could get back there, and grunt-n-grind at the drive-in movie.

Mine was a 96 Tacoma 2WD, because my father said if he let me loose in a 4WD I'd be waken him in the middle of the night every weekend. And he was right!

1967 Buick GS 400 400 ci, 335 hp. Real sleeper of a muscle car. Many drags out on Hwy 3. Many trips through the hills to Jackson to the Hullabaloo and the Zodiac!

cream with black vinyl top, red-line wide ovals
pearlized yellow interior

Lord it was beautiful! Wish I had it now!

72 MG Midget, no seats, had milk crates in it. Took the trunk lid off so it would "seat" four.

That thing had a little 4 cylinder with duel carbs, 4 speed. Would haul butt.

1981 F100, parents told me I could have a brand new car or an old truck, I immediately told them where to get the old truck.

1992 Ford Bronco. Used to take the top off during the summer and go to the sand bar across from Vicksburg to mud ride. I sure wish I still had it.

Ford ranger single cab with a 4 banger in it. My dad still has it and it is still running strong. It is amazing how many people you can fit in a small single cab truck when you and a buddy are giving some girls a ride home.
