Re: Which Chainsaw to buy?
I posed this same question on here a while ago and the best advice that anyone gave was: (1) go with Stihl, and (2) get the commercial grade saw...more expensive, but as an average user, you will never wear it out.
The one advantage of the Husk in the commercial series of saws is that it runs at a higher rpm from what I have been told and read. It cuts faster, but it is also heavier, so I suppose the two may cancel each other out.
Most importantly, get a saw that you can handle. Fatigue is the reason most folks get cut. They get tired and sloppy and end up in the OR. I have an ortho buddy that has told me chainsaw injuries to bone are amongst the worst types of injuries because they do away with so much bone. Chuckle can probably elaborate on that.
I have seen people with small willy syndrome walk around with a 28" bar saw and end up with bads results, or at best a really sore set of arms, shoulders and backs.

You get a 2 yr warranty if you buy it as a homeowner, and 90 day if you buy as a commercial cutter.Buckwabit wrote:The pro series saws are bad to the bone but you get no warranty with them..

Both are great saws. My dad is a stihl dealer so I have a preference for them, but you will be happy with either one. As others mentioned, just makes sure you don't get a longer bar than the saw can handle.

Re: Which Chainsaw to buy?
Have used both and if I had to buy one today I'd go with the Stihl. I think you made a good choice. The big Husky we have at work will slap wear you out after a while, but it'll go through some big stuff.
Re: Which Chainsaw to buy?
This Stihl sho-nuff cuts through some stuff. Thanks for all the great advice. I would recommend the 290 farm boss 20" to anyone that just cuts trees around the house, hunting club, or farm.
