It is a plague. Repeat applications of Arsenal req'd to control, but you'll liley not ever get rid of it. Whoa be unto the fella that tries to kill it with roundup - it'll spread by leaps and bounds! You want tosee a BIG fire just try burning a stand of it off! Outcompetes native grasses and absolutely worthless for anything. Based on training and meetings, makes kudzu look like teh cartoon before the main feature. They used to it pack crates. Also related to japanese bloodgrass, which they still sell at nurseries. Easy to id when blooming. Keep your eyes peeled on the right of ways along highways, it's everywhere. Seed is windborn too. And beware buying grassland property, especially in coastal counties. If you are alandowner, especially in southern counties, do your homework and get ahead of the curve: the old ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure routine. It infests pine forests and pastures both.

I love to watch the ducks circle and the dogs work.
jap grass/cogon grass is a bad mother
. it can be controlled by grazon pd but that most of the time just burns it
. we use our county airport for hay ground in southwest ms and it really hasn't bothered us too bad with applicating this herbi. if you find some in busted concrete i wouldn't be too worried about it, but do keep an eye on it. i know that Dr. John Byrd did some studies on it but i don't know if he is still studying it. he is in the Dept. of Weed Sciences at MSU.

them shells ain't no good in the summer boy!
