looking for a new tv
looking for a new TV, where should I look for research? It's been so long since I researched a new TV, i don't really know where to start.

go to www.cnet.com and do a search, they pretty much give you the goods and their opinion on just about everything.

Re: looking for a new tv
samsung is the best.... Vizio is good if you're looking for value
Re: looking for a new tv
Ive got a LG (LCD) and love it, Then have a smaller sharpe (LCD) and hate it!
Parents have a Samsung (plasma) and its awesome. Also have a Vizio (LCD) and its ok but over priced to me.
Doesnt hurt when buying a TV like that to spend the extra money on one.
Id rate it as samsung, LG, vizio then sharpe.
Do not get a emerson or any other off brand like that. Not worth it at all.

Re: looking for a new tv
Samsung makes a very good tv. Im partial to the sony's though. My dad has a vizio. Its a good tv but we can't get something set right; no matter what station you're on it looks like you're watching a cheesy 80's soap opera. Theres like a motion delay or something

Re: looking for a new tv
I agree with the Samsung recs Joel.
I went through this last year while looking for a TV for my back porch.
After hours of research & looking @ different units, I settled on a 40" Samsung with 1080P (resolution) with 120hz (refresh rate) & have been very pleased.
If you are planning to buy one smaller than 36", you can save some money by going with 720P resolution, but anything larger, you should really go 1080P.

Buying a TV is way different now from back in the day.

Re: looking for a new tv
The new panasonic plasmas ar the ticket. I have a samsung plasma and it doesnt compare to the panasonic. They bought the pioneer technology. I would check them out
Re: looking for a new tv
I have a 1080 with the 120 refresher and it's a toshiba. Very pleased with it. I had a samsung but the picture quality wasn't as good as the toshiba. Also you need to consider a surround sound if you buy one because the sound quality on the majority of them is crap. They are designed to be set up with surround sound.
Re: looking for a new tv
Let' start off by asking where will the TV be at? Will it be in the living room, bedroom, bathroom? Any TV other than a living room doesn't have to be top notch. Top notch can be as simple as the sound output, etc.
Plasma (if you have a dark room) - Panasonic Vierea
LCD (if you have a bright room) - Visio, Sony
Plasma will put off a little more heat compared to LCD. The old fear of Plasma burn in is no longer valid with the newer displays.

Your alittle late on your timing but if to try around Marchish, the spooks have used up their tax refund and start selling all the stuff they bought. Like big booty tvs......

Re: looking for a new tv
there are some awesome TV's out there now a days. Take your time and do some research. I swore when I bought a flat screen 4 years ago that i would never spend that kind of money on another TV. Best Buy would be your best bet to get some information, they aren't always the cheapest but its a good place to start. The new Vizio's from Sam's or Walmart are great TV's and very clear for half the price of the others in most cases.
I've got a 42" Flat Screen vizio on my porch that hasn't given me a lick of trouble in 3 years

Re: looking for a new tv
I just got a new house and want to hang one on the porch, outside. Are yall using regulat tv's for that or some kind of outdoor tv? I guess i could build a cabinet or something for it. Thoughts?
