..saw one of your freshwater eels on a survivalist show (dual survival)... one of the guys caught a 10 pounder that was pretty good sized...couldn't imagine running into one that was 100lbs and hungry! YIKES
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...

I am planning to go hunting over the weekend. I will try to catch a Taniwha eel and take some photos for you.

Well Ole Sam is still out there hunting and fishing in the Far North of New Zealand. Opening day was fun. I had a French guy come on the tour. We caught an eel and smoked it up. YUM. Then we shot some greyduck, swan and a pig. We stuffed the ducks inside the swan then put the swan inside the pig with herbs etc. Then we stuffed it all into a basket with veges and cooked it in a hangi (traditional maori oven in the ground). It came out beautiful. The next night we tramped all night through the Herekino forest shooting possums. Later we went fishing and naild it too!RedEyed Duck wrote:What ever happened to ole Sam?

Sam,
You originally from Kiwi-land? You sure sound like you got some strait up CoonAss in your blood... I mean that in a good way.
me and you would get along, I'd even bring you a pair of waders so them eels don't get one of those lower digits. Or something more important for that matter.
Damn that duck-swan-piggin sounds like a mouth watering feast!!! What's the cost of living like over there?

At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.

Hi everyone. The cost of living depends on your efforts like anywhere else in the world. If you go out and get your own food, It's way easyier than working to pay for a feed of crap. I mean, if you put the petrol in your car and go for a fish or a hunt, you will be eating better than the folk who work for money and find that there just isn't enough to buy the good quality cuts. I just finishd a nice feed of smoked mulled wich we got the other day just down the road. We set a net and longline of a litlte Island called Motiti where we got 27 mullet, 14 kahawai and 12 parore. Great stuff!iron grip wrote:Sam,
