Sand Volleyball Court

We are thinking of building one are our church. Anyone ever built one? Suggestions?

50' x 80' is the overall size you will need to fill with sand. This gives a 10' safety cushion all around the court. Actual court dimensions are 30' x 60'. You will want to excavate anywhere from 1-1/2' to 3' to fill in with sand. Depth more depends on drainage. Each side of the court will be bowl shaped, deeper in the center than the ends. The net being a center hump in the length of the court. See below picture for what I'm trying to describe.

do you think ya'll would really use it after the first month or so? Seems like every sand volleyball court I see is old and in disrepair. I think the novelty of the whole thing would wear off really fast.

Only during the summer. We play quite a bit on the grass during the summer, just thought sand might be nice.
