Ted Nugent is probably one of the most underrated guitar players of our era. He's a great guitarist but rarely gets mentioned as one. The licks on Stranglehold are the stuff rock legend is made of.

1. Jimmy Page... for me I could end the thread here as he is the reason I like rock and roll so much. No guitarist has had as much musical influence on me as much as he has. He has such amazing skill to be able to play a ballad like the rain song or going to california and then hit you with Kashmir, Whole Lotta Love, or Achillies last stand and then pull of IMO one of the best songs ever Ten Years Gone. There is so much difference in his playing, acoustic, electirc, 6 string, 12 string, heavy, light, funky, after 20 some odd years since hearing my first zep song, I still really love his playing.

2. SRV... amazing, not much more to be said here.

3. Joe Bonamassa.. No one has directly mentioned him yet. While I think there are better guitarists that have been before him, he is young enough and not on enough drugs yet to really have a chance to put an amazing career together, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Don't get me wrong I love Hendrix, I pretty much have his entire discography, but he most certainly gets his credit where it is due. He revolutionized the way a guitar is played, props. But I think there are many more who are just as good. Though, sometimes I still scratch my head wondering how he does what he does. I bought the album Valleys of Neptune a few months ago, it has a lot of unreleased tracks that were never realeased due to legal reasons. My favorite is "Crying Blue Rain". I saw a guy playing bass at a Craig Mogan concert I think it was, they guy looked like he belonged in a hair band not a country band and I think they said he was in one of the old school bands, anyway, he had a bass solo and stole the show in my opinion, he made the bass do things I didnt know it could. It was awesme. Anyone know who I am talking about?
