I am really wanting a browning citron satin hunter in 3.5" for duck hunting,, my dad has one and loves it.. do any of you have an opinion? i get the whole third shell thing but i never seem to hit on the third try and just burn through shells. my other gun is a 1187 supermag..

Just handle it and see if you like it. I'd imagine you have already shot one before if your dad has one. One thing is for sure with Browning O/U's, you shouldn't have to worry about quality issues. If you shoot it well, couple that with a quality gun, go buy that sucker.

I can honestly say I rarely shoot a third shot unless it is a wad in my face. And honestly, if one shot makes that big of a difference on my limit, but I'm shooting a gun that I adore, who cares? I personally have a thing for semi's. I love beautiful semi's that function well, they are an engineering feat. But that is my view, it certainly doesn't make it right. Go buy it.

I have the same gun mine is all camo.. I wished I would have bought the Citori version of it, but when I finally got the money, I couldn't find the gun.. So the Cyergy is what I got. I like mine, it is just not like the Citori that I am used to, but the recoil on it is very tame..

Make sure you handle it and shoot your dad's at some clays. I don't fit the Brownings well, cause I have shot a Win 101 for 35 years - it has a different stock and when I put the Brownings up I am looking at the rib instead of down the rib. I finally got me a Classic Doubles 101 and I carry it to Canada and all points in between. I have not missed the third shot much, if at all. Last year I got a true double on Giant Canadas. If you shoot it well, you will not miss the third shot. Plus, when you get used to it, you can have a couple of finisher shots in it pretty darn quick.

I just got a duck blind pattern browning cynergy, handles well and wasted some 3.5 shells on it shooting skeet.

If I were to buy an o/u solely to duck hunt it would be a ruger red label. They are tough as nails and reasonable $$$. The cynergy is a good gun, but pricey. I have a Fausti sporter model I nearly ruined duck hunting, I would go for a synthetic stock with some type weather coating on the barrel.

I've got the cynergy 3.5. It is a great gun. Love the synthetic stock, don't have to worry about wood swelling issue like you would citori. Same goes for dings and niks. Also great turkey gun.

I sell them for a living ...and I bought the same gun for myself this year. I browning o/u 's. They also have the tax rebate till sept 5.... nice incintive

My opinion is - I will never buy another current production Browning firearm due to an unfair resolution to an obvious product defect issue by the Customer Service Manager. Apparently, Japaneese stock-fitters know about as much about wood grain selection and structural integrity through the weakest part of the stock as I did when I put my faith in their product. Never again.

Sad thing is, I now have a grade II buttstock on 20ga. Grand Lightening with a grade VI forearm.........and I had to split the cost of the replacement stock to resolve the 2-year long stand-off. The other sad thing is it was a gift from my wife. So I don't think they'll be featuring the 'Dennis Family' in a full-page 'Buckmark' magazine ad anytime soon.

See - the wood is the whole appeal of a Grand Lightening. They said they couldn't afford to replace Grade VI wood on a gun of that price range. DUH!! I contend their Japaneese counterparts should have been more selective about suitability and structural integrity of the wood through the weakest part of the stock (between the upper and lower tangs)..... I 'don't give a damn what grade wood it is. A stock that breaks when you shoot the gun is inferior material and defys the meaning of the term, 'craftsmanship'.

So, after the sale - they could care less about your other 17 Brownings and your customer loyalty over 30+ years.

Consequently, I've maintained my promise to Browning since 2003.

You might be alright with a synthetic stock, though.

Thanks for everyones reply.. I pulled the trigger and got the Citori.. Even tho the gun feels a little heavy the balance is Awesome.. Shot some skeet at turcott to check it out.. Really nice shooting gun.. Now.. Let me at some ducks!!

We had a stock break on a lesser grade beretta, it wasn't even their fault, and they still replaced it. we did have to pay shipping. I'll agree with one thing Ramsey said about his Browning, they handle like an axe handle.
