Jackson, MS Deer processing

Postby cagoodwn » Mon Nov 07, 2011 8:13 am

This is my first deer season down here. I butchered the first bow kill myself but now wanting to get some burger made? Can you get quality processing around here for a fair price? I've got a doe quartered up right now I need to get to one. Thanks

being that you are already in brandon, take it to Vans. If you are the other side of town I would take it to Dwights down hwy 18 towards Raymond.

Van's is not the best representation for a new guy in town. His deer processing has been "lacking" for lack of a better word. The Outfitter in Richland, Pap's in Morton are good places. Van's is "ok", but I have reason to believe that you dont get your meat back. I take mine to Wilsons in Crystal Springs if it's just hamburger and sausage....fast, good and cheap.

Ok thanks. I'll be near Flora this afternoon. Anyone heard of The Buck Shop? The seemed nice on the phone. Asking $1.39/pd for regular burger. Is this about the norm for around here?

A buddy had mentioned Dwight's as well. Just trying not to go too far out of the way. Thanks.

I take all mine to the Sportsman in Canton. They do a good job for a good price and their pepperjack and green onion sausage is freaking delicious!

Has anyone had any luck finding someone who will package the "specialty" type sausage in anything less than those big 5lb. vaccume sealed bags. Alot of times thats too much to cook at one time and it ends up getting freezer burnt.

The buck stop in Bovina has the best jalapeno and cheese sausage there is. I was at camp this weekend and had some sausage from Dwights and some from the Buck Stop. There was no more jalepeno and cheese left and there were 3 whole links of Dwights left. However, I do not get anything else from them, this is the only thing I like. I make a special trip from Memphis every year to get the jalap sausage made. I had some peper jack and jalepeno sausage from some place in Port Gibson one time that was unbelievable but they closed down.

I use Stacey Martins in Bolton and dont think several around compare to him. I assure you that you get all your meat back and you gonna be very pleased with it.

I hunt up this way but this guy can flat out make some good sausage. Burger too. Van's would be 3-4 down my list

I've use the Buck Shop and been very satisfied with their ground meat tell them to mix it with ground chuck instead of just fat, the outfitters sausage is goodso is the sausage from S&D outside of Learned, I use the Buck Shop for everything but sausage
