Are you serious? This cancels me out of then cause I refuse to own 2 muzzle loader!

And chad I am looking at my 35w hornady box says +2@100 0@200 -9@300 with 200grn bullet
Bogue chitta refuge is part of the SLE complex. Because of it encompassing 2 different states with 2 different sets of primative weapon regulations it has been set to use state legal weapons for whichever side you are hunting on. The Ruger's No. 1 and No. 3 are illegal in LA along with all encores and contenders and mossbergs single shot. All other types of pre 1900 actions are legal as long as they are at least .38 caliber, non interchangeble barrels, and have a swinging hammer! It's the same law MS used for years.

What is the recoil like on the 444? I shot a handi rifle .35 W yesterday and it is terrible. Kicks worse than my .300 x 3. I have heard the 444 is not that bad with a good stock recoils pad. I don't mind recoil but my .300, you can't shoot over three times or you will bruise your shoulder. Hunting is not bad but most of the time your shooting to site it in. Thank God for the lead sled

.444 isnt bad. I hunt with mine all the time and love. It's a cheap gun...get a wood stock so its heavier and have fun. Synthetic stocks are too light and will kick pretty bad. If im huntimg in the woods, its all I ever take. Dont have to worry about shooting a nicking some brush and the bullet getting knocked off course.

I had a recoil pad on my .444 and took it off...my nova kicks way harder. My 14 year old shoots it. I do have the wood stock and is somewhat of a lug, but, I like the shortness of the gun... the chart says it drops like 1.5" at 200 yards. I do have a descent scope and the rig seems rugged enough. Pass through shot on a doe last week...impressive blood trail. An affordable gun that works where I hunt for primative seasons as well. Mine shoots the Hornadays good...I thumbs up buy IMO

My friends wife is small and she has never complained about the kick of her 444. She doesn't site it in either tho. I knew the ruger was illegal as a primitive weapon in La but I thought they changed the law to make the encore legal as long as it is 38 cal and bigger.

Not according to La dept of Wildlife website. It specifies what guns you can or cannot use!

Got my 444 back from the stock man Friday. took 6 six shots to sight in on the lead sled. First 2 were about 2 feet low  . Took 3 shots free hand after that. Recoil wasn't much worse than most everything else I've shot.
