Reading lunar table
Reading lunar table
This may be a dumb question but when trying to figure out deer movement by reading the lunar table what do you look for? Rise, Set, Overhead, Underfoot, what do all these mean? Like I said, probably a dumb question but I have no idea. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Reading lunar table
Its not a dumb question if you have never used a lunar table/calendar. You are looking for the "overhead" and "underfoot" times. These are the major feeding times. The major feeding times are usually around 3 hours long, 1.5 hours before the overhead or underfoot and 1.5 hours after overhead or underfoot. So if it says the overhead time is 10:30am, the major feeding time is from 9:00-12:00. The same goes for the underfoot time. However, most lunar table's give you the major feeding times on them and also give you a minor feeding time. The minor feeding time lasts for 1.5 hours. If you have an iPhone or a phone that will download apps, download an app called " iSolunar ". It is a lunar table that gives you the major times and minor times, it also bases some of this on the weather. I have used this app for 3 years now and it is very accurate. It also gives each day a rating 1-5 with 5 being the best time for deer movement. If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to pm me. Also, the phone app uses your location to figure out the best times for your specific location. You can set up locations, name them, and save them on the app so when you are going to a specific property you can use the table for that specific property.
I hope this was helpful.

Re: Reading lunar table
Doesnt the moon rise and moon set indicate when the moon is at its " quarter axis" and create the minor feeding times?

Re: Reading lunar table
I just staryed using an app called "Time2Hunt". Its pretty nice. Give sun rise/set data as well as moon times, phases, type of moon, major/minor times, and a bar graph showing times rating through outthe day. It also rates the overall day, and an am and pm rating.
