It is kind of difficult to respond to your question as asked. For instance, I don't bow hunt ---not yet anyway. So, for me, quite obviously it would be much more difficult to go out and kill a large deer with a bow than to get a limit of ducks. For the accomplished deer hunter with bow, who never or rarely duck hunts, it would probably be more difficult to get a limit of ducks. Assuming the person answering was equally accomplished in both bow hunting and duck hunting, I can't answer because I am not -----probably the case of most of the posters on this duck hunting board.

Now I do occasionally deer hunt in the afternoons because I enjoy cooking and eating venison. However, unlike many, I have no obsession to kill a large buck. I am perfectly content if I just get a sizable legal deer ---doe or buck matters not for the table. But, like most on this duck hunting board, I am obsessed with duck hunting, and would much rather harvest a limit of ducks than a large deer.

There is no need to ridicule/attack duck hunters for not responding to your post/question ------ probably not many on this board with the necessary qualifications to answer your question.

good point, but most of the duck hunters I know do bowhunt. I know a few people who just seem to always know the best setup for deer or duck and consistantly kill both. I enjoy doing both but as you said earlier I really dont spend enough time duck hunting to make a fair comparison. So you guys need to take my ass and let me see a good duck hunt.

What's a limit of mallards? That would be new to me as I never shot a limit 'o mallards before. Now Dos Gris and teal on the other hand were our forte in my old SE La. lease!

I love bow hunting and duck hunting. I'm just glad the seasons aren't at the same time or I'd really be screwed. I still gun hunt for deer in the afternoons, but, don't hunt anymore in the mornings if duck season is open.

I missed a deer with a bow years ago when I was in school that I still dream about. I am positive he would have made the book if I had not screwed it up. My arrow centered a nice pin oak though.

Each style hunting and game choice has it's place and needed skills. What we most definitely need to avoid is pitting one hunting group or style against another. A good example of this is still hunting vs. dog hunting. Hunting and hunters have enough to contend with without this sort of infighting.

Two different species of oak all together. Acorns are totally different.

I guess what Im trying to ask is what kind of oak is the one with the long narrow leaf that has the small acorn. Ive always called them a pin oak but somebody told me that it was actually a water oak. Is this true?
