Need advice on hunting ducks that dont leave hole

Postby QuakenTimber » Tue Dec 27, 2011 5:50 pm

I've been watching one of my holes all season and waiting for the right time to hunt it. Thing is I think the ducks that are using it never leave to go roost somewhere. Just wondering what yalls strategy would be on this..?? I drove close to hole today and about 20 mallard got up(which is alot for this time of year in Alabama) hopefully they'll come back but we have alot of water around right now.

Sounds like once you shoot it that is it for that hole. Can you set up somewhere else and cut them off from making it there? Obviously they fill safe in that 1 spot and will bring more birds with them to it possibly.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
Cheers, Georgie.

Don't have anywhere else to cut them off. But like i said, I think they just stay there all the time. Yea it will only take one shoot and it'll be over for them. When it gets really cold we will get fresh ducks and it'll stay good.

So why is this a "discussion" forum, jerks like y'all two is what will make this site go to pot. All you have to do is sit around and make fun of people's post. Get a life! Both of y'all have been reported.

I got a place just like that. So far we have been able to shoot it once every three weeks or so. You never know till you try it. You won't be able to hunt it everyday for sure, but you might get twice a month out of it. Some thing is better than nothing

Nah, I do have a life and dont waste my time "cracking" on other peoPles posts. Most of the time when I post something the thread is quickly looked over to people continuously saying crap. I'm all for having a good time but it's just annoying. And 8 out of 10 other threads turn into the same thing.

if they roost there overnight, i'd bump them at 8 am and hunt them as they filter back. might get a couple shoots this way.

Here is what I would do:

1. Figure out what time of day they are coming in there (am/pm)

2. Be there set up 2 hours before that time of day

3. Kill as many as you can!

I'd rather have one sure enough good hunt than 2 average hunts. Get what ya can!
