Destin Fishing question

Postby regishay » Mon Jan 16, 2012 12:50 pm

Anybody know a good charter boat out of Destin, headed down in June.

Also anybody else going to be down there between june 11-15 that might want to share a charter?

Hope you don't intend to catch and keep a mess of grouper or red snapper.

no, just looking to go fishing. Hell, It may be to early to go, it has been probably 20 years since I went deep sea fishing. I really dont know the different seasons they have set now, thats why I am looking for charter info.

Justintime - Captain Chip Godwin- 850-837-2930

Not the nicest boat in the fleet, but he consistently catches fish. Ask any captain in the harbor.

What I meant was that the National Marine Fisheries Council has essentially closed the seasons on snapper and grouper for recreational fishing. Anyway, there are cobia near the beaches around that time, and many of the captains have learned how site fish for them out of their offshore boats. If you combine that with kingfishing you can still have a good time.

Gag grouper closed: http://www.gulfcouncil.org/news_resourc ... Season.pdf

Red Snapper closed: http://www.gulfcouncil.org/news_resourc ... r0811r.pdf

Its put alot of the fishing guides out of business and made a tough Florida economy even worse. Definitely call the guides and confirm a season before you rent the condo.

Not worried about the condo, its already set in stone. Just looking for something to do besides play on the beach and golf all week. I know You can catch dolphin, king makeral, yellow fin, so there will be something to fish for that will be open. May try the inshore fishing as we only have 3-4 of us going.

grew up in Ft walton beach and live in panama city. june fishing will offer some good opportunity to bend a rod. there should be some kings around (fun to catch on spinning poles with live bait). offshore fishing should be good (and expensive) depending on were blue water is. we should be seeing the start of tarpon migrating down the beach. some of the smaller boats that fish inshore can put you on kings or tarpon. pat dineen is a good inshore guide who I highly recommend.
