Take a piece of 4' Hog wire and make a circular blind. Brush it up and sit down on a bucket.

TN, said most of what I was going to say.
I have used that same approach, except I
try to sit in a combine rut.
IT WORKS TOO!!!

Put on black war paint with a white stripe across the nose and down under each ear. Tie a Barred-owl wing feather in your hair, lie down in the mud and put decoys all around you. Even go as far as to put a couple of sleeping-mallard dekes on your belly. When the ducks come in and kiss your feet, jump up with a screaming-banshee war whoop and grab two mallards in each hand.
.....Yeah, I've noticed how the birds land in that 2 inch deep water...a mummy boat is about the only way to go...but you have to be STILL.

no angel and I took some 1 1/2" muffler pipe
and bent it into shape. he covered his with netting and it kind of feels like a hammock.
either one sits up just enough to keep water off you but low enough to put fast grass or straw and get covered. any muffler shop can bend the pipe. we have less than 20 in ours

sometimes it is just better to pay the price of 400.00 dollars
The Duckmen's mummy blinds are the best.
on a rice field with no stubble to speak of.
what see looks like next to the levee
And Ole Duckhunt4 trying to take aim
Just don't get no better

I am tired of trying to make the ducks come to me and have decided to go to them. This past weekend I sat in a pit in the levee of a rice field and watched 500-1000 ducks land out in the middle of the field where the water meets the land. The farmer does not want a pit in the middle of his field. I have a few ideas for a water tight field blind, but every idea is too heavy and I am too cheap to buy one for $400. Does anybody have any ideas on making one. It has to be water tight because I will be in about 1 foot of water. thanks

Get a pirouge, pull it up to the edge in whatever cover you can find, grass it up with a little camo or vegitation, lay down and BE STILL.
I have a cheapo fiberglass sled from herters that I use as a mummy blind. It is not very comfortable, but it works O.K. Costs $40 and is in all of thier catalogs.

Hey Torch,
What doesn't stick out in open water short of a pit blind?
I really would like to hear your professional opinion

Here's an idea for you to try. Get a 55 gallon black plastic drum from any crop duster. Cut it in half long ways. Then take two of the ends and place them together. Cut the bottom out so there is just a rim enough to attach the bottoms together. we used screws and sealed it with silicon. We use a piece of plywood as a head rest and take another piece to put over us. Cover it with stubble and you're ready to go. the only cost is the plywood. We have used these for several years and they work great.
Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!

I have 6 or 7 of the mummy boat blinds that I will sell for $100 each. They are the good one's. They work great with 1 or 2 people hunting. If you get any more hunting in a field where the water's edge they stick out. When flying over they look like gator's.

DD, are those the ones from Pine Bluff? Riverside, I think. Some are low profile and others are a bit taller.
