ok ok, i don't see us going 9-2, would be nice but i don't see it. I could see is beating Auburn, not positive but i think arkansas graduated about 20 starters last year, and like lower 14 said, bama in tuscaloosa is always a tough one. That leaves LSU and Tennessee, of which neither will be easy, but i'm not gonna mark either as a loss either. After the first few games last year nobody expected us to be on the field with LSU in that game. Of the first 3 teams i mentioned, we could potentially beat all of them. Tennessee always has a good team, but nobody expected us to beat florida back to back years. Granted we don't have "our savior" is gone, but that doesnt' mean that Spurlock can't play. Just have to see how he does, the kids got a helluva arm and he's not completely stupid.
I say we go 8-3 if spurlock plays good. Gotta say that we'll win the egg bowl since i am a reb fan.
i think State can break even.
LSU wins sec west, but not nearly as dominant as they were in some games last year in my opinion. Georgia wins SEC, SC sleeper in east.
and i'm going out on a limb here, Florida State will be in the natl. championship game, may not win, but they'll be there.

If LSU can get a dependable QB out of one senior that lacks a brain and two sophmores that the sky is the limit on for potential we look good. Defense should be pretty strong again, but lost some wheels from last year. WR core is also kinda green this year. However there is an extremely large stable of RB's wich could go a long way with a pretty good O line also to block for them. It will be a good test to see how the measure up to last year, I am hopeful for the west, but feel the east will be the dominant confrence this year. I see MSU in rebuilding but headed in the right direction. Seems like Ole Miss has similar QB issues to us but on a greater degree as Eli was the man that made things go for you all. I think Auburn will wet the bed yet again. I feel there is coaching issues there. Last year should have been their year and they were horrible. I think coaching there. As far as Georgia #1 they should be strong but I think the O line is too weak, and David Greene is too slow. As we all remember last year Auburn was a preseason #1 in a lot of poles and see where that got them. However I say LSU V. Florida in the SEC championship, w/ LSU having 2-3 losses getting there.
Here's my dream for the fall and winter-
MSU wins over UM, Bummer, LSU, (I don't care about the rest)
UM goes 2-9
MSU roundballers win 30 games and win the NCAA tourney
I limit out on the 12 duck hunts I get to take this season
I kill that 220lb/10point I've been seeing on my place
Oh yeah, I limit out on three gobblers this spring as a bonus

Well, lets see...Georgia in the East, the teams I'm most worried about are Florida and Tennessee. Florida because of the voodoo hex of Jacksonville, and Tennesee because their backs are against the wall! I really think that we should be favored over LSU at home, but to beat them twice in the same year...well that'll be tough, good thing the SEC Ch. Game is in Atlanta (It'll feel like we're playing Ga. Tech and that's a good thing). Our O-Line was pretty much patchwork, and the injury bug killed us last year. If we can have a good performance out of our O-Line David Greene will have a great year, and we may see a breakout from sophomore Kregg Lumpkin. If not, it'll be a long year.
In the West, LSU because nobody out there has the athlete's they do. Plain and simple.
Miss. State - big limb here...6 wins, not sure who or how, but I bet they upset someone along the way. I think the coaching change will pump some life back into that program.
Ole Miss...No idea, really I don't follow them much.
National Champs: Well, obviously if we get by LSU (twice) and beat Florida and the others during the regular season (and I think we are capable of that) I'm gonna say Georgia. But, realistically, we play by some accounts the nations 2nd toughest schedule, so I don't think we'll get by (of course we might then "Katy bar the door"...the party is on)...Honestly, if I had to go out on a limb, I'd say that "IF" Mike Williams returns to USC, they are holding the upper hand. Plenty of media coverage and votes, a high profile finesse (read soft) conference, and plenty of great athletes.

Thanks Gordon... just couldn't leave the Georgia Tech jab out... could you.
I know the Dawgs are supposed to be loaded this year, but I just can't see them getting through LSU, UT, and FLA this year without dropping at least one. Of course, nothing would be sweeter than to see my Yellowjackets spoil a Dawg dream season in Athens on Nov. 27th. Ok... I know... I'm dreaming now.

Well, I'll wade in with a few insightful predictions. First, LSU will not win the west this year. Why? Three reasons: because everyone is predicting them to; tough away schedule; iffy QB situation. Not sure who will win the the West, but it won't be LSU. Sorry Tigahs. You have received the kiss of death by everyone's predictions of greatness.
Ole Miss? you guys are right, Ole Miss will be lousy this year without Eli. And with Pittman, Bournes, and possibly Razzano on the sidelines for part or all of the season, forget about it. The other teams should not worry and just go ahead and pencil in a win against the Rebs this year. Heck, our AD may just forfeit some of the games because the other teams are so tuff and scary. Spurlock, despite his unbelievable HS stats, freakish strength, 4.4 speed, athleticism, arm strength, and maturity, will likely fall on his face in the shadow of the mighty Eli. And our backup QB Lane, despite being recruited and once committed to the NC LSU Tigahs, and considered one of the best HS prospects in the country, will no doubt be a complete bust. The OL, despite its experience, size and strength, will likely be pansies, easily knocked around by the opposing DLs. The Rebs receiving corp(Espy, Flowers, Biddle, Johnson, Hill, Rice, etc), despite their speed, talent, experience and depth, will likely forget how to catch passes and develop MSU-syndrome (fear of being hit). The RBs, without Pittman and perhaps Razzano, will never be able to measure up with only Pearson, Abrams, Jacobs, Townsend, etc, despite some success on the ground last season. And the defense will once again be "light in the britches" on the DL, and our DBs will be as bad as last year's first couple of games, showing no improvement after a season (or two or three) of play. The LBs --forget it --without Bournes there is no hope. And that Nichols kid from the Delta is obviously a dud, despite winning the Groza award last year. Our punter, Ridgeway, despite leading the SEC in net punting last season, will undoubtedly forget how to kick without Eli to show him how. Yes, the upcoming season looks potentially dreadful for the Rebs.
As for MSU, with the arrival of Croom, and the implementation of disciplined play, the West Coast offense, and a new 4-3 defense that emphasizes fundamentals(imagine that), there is no doubt that the Pups will transform into yard Dawgs this season and challenge for the West title. The fact that there is little talent on the OL and DL, and little depth everywhere, should not matter. Why? Because the dog fans said so ---and they are never wrong. I still remember their trip to Pasadena with their best team in decades, as predicted a couple of seasons ago---- it was a season to remember.
The Tide? No doubt they will return to the glory days this year---probation and coaching woes be damned. Even without the depth and talent Tide teams have traditionally been noted for, the ghost of the Bear will rise again and propel this team's play beyond its capabilities. Should contend for the West title.
Auburn? Predicted to win the West last year. Cadillac had engine trouble. QB was shaky. Fell a little short. Almost lost coach. Embarassing fiasco involving plot by trustees and AD to oust Tub. Plot fails. Tub stays. AD to be ousted instead. Should have talent to win the West. Coaching changes look troublesome. Should be interesting.
Arkansas? Due to the fact that they lost almost their entire group of starters on both sides of the ball, they should be a shoe-in for dead last. But, they still have long, tall Matt Jones at QB. And they have a Reverend for a coach who can motivate. Conventional wisdom be damned, I say the piggies contend for the West title and surprise everyone.
As for the East, who cares? Probably Florida or Georgia. But, don't count out the Vols. And Vandy could surprise with its first winning season in forever.

Interesting story about Coach Croom in our local Gwinnett County Post today. Seems Coach is attending classes where players have been habitually ditching and coming late. Cites a player who said he came into a Health class 15 minutes late this summer and sat down. Never knew Coach Croom was there until Coach asked the instructor a question during the lesson. Player said he nearly wet his pants when he heard his voice, and he said he won't be late again!
Thank you, Lord!

Crow, you will see a difference in the players attitude this fall. The talent level is not as low as a lot of people believe, we will be a very young team. Look at the roster, 75% the first team are underclassmen. I am very optimistic. The future is bright!

Poor Monkey, I'll have to give it to you, that was a pretty good piece of work.
I say Ole Miss wins at least 7, maybe 8 games.
State plays over thier potential because of Croom and they win at least 4 games.
All you guys predicting gloom and doom for Ole Miss because of Spurlock are gonna get reminded, by me, come November when I retrieve this thread!
