What to look for when buying a used camera

I want to get into photographing wildlife and was looking to get a used camera to start up. But i dont know what all to look at when buying a used camera. I have noticed several cameras on craigslist that are in my price range but i dont want to buy crappy camera just because i dont know what to look for in a camera. Any imput would be much appreciated.

The lower the shutter count the better. Also, try to get one from
Fredmiranda.com or naturescapes.com. Most of the guys on there take good care of their stuff and it will be in great condition. Last, be patient.

ive always done good buying on a photo forum
photography-on-the.net/forum is a good one
ive also bought on ebay from someone with 100 percent and low shutter count
