Full Body Decoys
Full Body Decoys
Never really been a "hunt in the field" kind of person. Always have prefered to hunt standing next to a tree. We hold a fair amount of shallow water every season in bean fields, but besides my son and a couple of his buddies going out there 2-3 times a year, the fields never get hunted. Well....long story short....on advice from a MO friend....I have a pit going in on one of the fields that consistently holds a good many ducks. He says full body decoys on the edges make this shallow water hunting much more productive. Says those pintail decoys we never use will also be of some help. Wanting to get my son 12 to 24 full body decoys but unsure of quality, price, durability, etc. I like the folks at Higdon and was looking on their site. Also looked on Mack's at a couple of different packages. Who out there is using full body decoys often and is one any better than the other for the $$$ ????????????? Thanks in advance. Also any other advice on this hunting in open water/field scenario. I have killed them in spots like this....first ten minutes before sun came up and then I always left. Do no intend on hunting much out there myself even now, but would like to pass along sound advice to the youngsters.
Are we gonna get wet?
Re: Full Body Decoys
I like G & H with swivel heads. Expensive, but look good in overcast or blue bird days
Re: Full Body Decoys
green head gear is the way to go. Tough to kill them consistently in that scenario unless you can be mobil. Best advice i have for yal is to invest in laydown blinds. Cabelas makes the most economical and avery the most expensive. get them dirty and never wash them all season. It is a rewarding way to hunt for sure, but its not for everybody. O and dont bring your grandfathers over and under out there bc laydown hunts tend to destroy equipment.(MUDDY)
