For the record I freakin hate wearing anything by UA. Just feels nasty on my hide. Wool is hard to beat.

Last year I bought the Ibex mid weight wool base layer it is thin, light weight, and warm. I highly recommend them. Wicks away sweet and retains it thermal property. Of course this is true of all wool not just Ibex.

A good base layer of midweight wicking type thermals for underneath. I use the terramar. Then if not to cold ju asd t a decent part of, pants and shirt. If temps get below freezing very long i'll put on the King Mountian suit. With that and a good base layer u should be good to go down to single digits unless u just real cold natured. As far as under waders, nothing but a pair of soft supple pants. I use good waders so temps arent a problem there down to single digits. Whatever u do though dont mix down and wool unless you plan to do nothing but sit in frigid weather a,long time. You will sweat with any activity at all in this combo then,really get cold!

This thread has got me thinking. I hate my under aromor stuff. I sweat to death and then freeze. I have the problem of being hot as shizz walking in and then freezing no matter the temp. What would yall say is the ticket? Merino wool stuff or capilene/synthetic? What weights, light or medium? Plus Im going skiing this year so I might as well get a new set.

Carry your heavier outer stuff on the walk in, and put it on once you get there.
Be a little cold on the way in will save you over heating. I have learned this the hard way. If I have a walk, I can not wear my waxed canvas jacket till I get to the hole or I'll sweat to death then freeze.
