It has gotten out of hand. My wife wont even stay over night when we go back and visit family. Last time we stayed Christmas of 2011 Mrs LEE was murdered and after Mrs Lewis was beaten killed and burned a few weeks ago, my wife was reluctant about even driving down for the day.

Re: New Year's Eve in the delta...
At midnight last night there was gunfire in every direction for a solid 15 minutes. The sound of fully auto gunfire is unmistakable. Clarksdale is heavily armed, unfortunately we probably ain't "fighting on the same side"

One of my Clarksdale friends has a bullet hole through the top of the hood of his truck. Unless he was taking incoming fire from the rooftops, that bullet was likely one of the celebrants' spent rounds.tombstone wrote:DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BE OUTSIDE AT THE STROKE OF 12:00.
The natives will be shooting in the air like it is downtown Fallujah. I have never been in a true battle zone, but there is no way it can sound much different. The amount of gunfire is absolutely staggering.

That's crazy, y'all need to move away from there!
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

Was at deer camp in Copiah County near Georgetown. we heard a lot of gunfire at midnight there also.

If all the white folk move from there, then the natives will have it all to themselves and it won't be long and it will be a ghost town with no taxpayers left.
I heard that the famous lawyer was planning on running for mayor of that town. Wonder if he'll have Morgan Freeman going door to
door for him?

Umm, most of us DID. Back in '83 it was. The town went unmistakably dark, and ain't lightened up yet.RedEyed Duck wrote:That's crazy, y'all need to move away from there!

Heck, the last time I went there was for a funeral. I only have one more family member to plant there when the time comes. Everbody else has done left.
Nobody owes you anything.

Re: New Year's Eve in the delta...
I left for college in 95 and never moved back. Even in the summers, I would stay in Starkville and work. After my dad passed away, we talked my mom into retiring and moving to east Mississippi. I still have a brother there and an uncle in Quitman County, but I ussually just see them at my mom's house when them come over to the east side of the state.
My wife is from Tunica, so we still go there to visit pretty often, but I have not set foot in Clarksdale for a couple of years. It doesn't sound like I am missing much.

If you come don't ride down your old street. You will cry. I live here and refuse to ride down the street I grew up on.Bully wrote:I left for college in 95 and never moved back. Re: New Year's Eve in the delta...
I remember riding my bike as a kid from the courthouse to Sound Center and every street between. Never a worry in my mind nor my parents mind. Baseball and soccer during the summers and basketball in the gym beside Wongs. Fast forward to today, When I go visit my dad for the day, I have a pistol on my hip and I walk my wife to and from the car regardless of day or night. Unbelievable. I had a great time growing up in Clarksdale but sadly, I will never return. Laid my mother down to rest 5 weeks ago and wish my pops would move away but it isnt happening. Guess I'll tip my hat to the good times and move on.tombstone wrote:If you come don't ride down your old street. You will cry.
