what size tires on a 2011 gmc?

Postby DuCkCoMaNdEr » Mon Apr 29, 2013 7:58 am

I am in the market for some new tires for my 2011 GMC Sierrra Z71, and was thinking of putting a leveling kit on it and a little bigger tire. Anyone know what the biggest size is that I could run with jus a leveling kit on it? I plan on keeping the stock 18 inch wheels. Thanks

I think you can run 305s just get ready for your gas mileage to go to 13ish.

305 is the width...those tires are 12" wide

you can fit a 33"x12" on there with a leveling kit and stock rims...that would be like a 305-60-18

Depends on not much you want your mpg to drop.

I put a leveling kit on mine and run 275's. I was planning to go to 285's after the stock 265's wore out, but the 275's were much cheaper and there is not enough size difference to really matter.

Didnt realize it would drop the mileage that much, it averages about 18 now how it is. I couldnt afford to loose 5 mpg.

Just depends on the new tire weight. When I was looking at larger tires, some of the 285's and 305's only came in D/E load range. These are much heavier than the C load range tires on your truck. Your mpg will drop 3-5 mpg if you go the the heavier D/E load range tires.

Stay as close as you can to the original width and it won't hurt your gas as bad

I'd run a 275/70. That's a 33" tire

I ran 285/65 on mine but now knowing better I would have gone taller and not as wide. Still got 16 mpg

This.

I run 275/70/18s BFGs without a level kit and it added an inch or two to the truck without killing mpg. I was getting 16 avg stock, and get 15 avg now. I may add a level kit in the future, but won't add bigger tires.

i'm running 275/70s with a 2in kit in the front. I like the added height but the kit does make it ride much rougher.

Its very easy to install. You can do it yourself with a few simple tools. The leveling kit will cost between 40 and 80 bucks, and then all you have to do is go have it realigned. All said and done it cost me 40 for the kit, and 20 to get leveled.

I leveled mine, and put 275/70 Nittos on. Thats a 33.25x11. No real noticeable drop in MPG.
