Crowder Ms

Postby Mallard Seeker » Tue Dec 28, 2004 7:03 pm

Planning to go Thursday and Friday. I guess all the ice has thawed.
Hoping to have my first good hunt.
I can not remember the post, but Ice=River was a post I wish I had read.
I have not had my boat out this season. If anyone knows about the duck hunting in Phillip MS let me know. I may load up and launch my boat in Tippo. 8)

P.S. RB let me know when you get back home.

my source in Crowder told me today "it sucks". the full moon has got them feeding at night (he said he was watching 1000's fly by the moon last night) and are holding on the damn refuge during the day. They are just thawing out and he thinks they lost some ducks to the south delta area. They are killing some, but not many like last week. Check the weather and the moon. He thinks the ducks that left will be back next week. I was planning to go over this weekend but I'm gonna wait until it's a little better.

I am guessing that you have a lease in this area. Why not call the farmer, rather than post on here trying to get someone else to do your scouting work for ya?

We are you huntin'? I will be there myself. We hunt south of O'keefe. They killed ducks on Sunday and Monday at my bosses place at White Lake but I haven't heard anything since.

I hunt about 4 miles NE of crowder in fields on private land. We went Mon., broke ice and saw about 75 total. I went alone this morning and holy crap where did the birds come from? The most birds I have seen in 2 or 3 years. They were very shy and hard to work, but I did manage to get my limit( 2 teal, 2 gadwall, 1 mallard, and yes 1 shoveler). The mallards did not work good at all. One pass and they were gone. Going again in the morning while they are here.

chad, are you on the east-west road just south of o'keefe? it takes a 90 degree turn south... about a week ago there were several thousand geese using one of those fields, and ducks were joining in the party.
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

Let us know how you do this weekend in Crowder. I'm looking to go over next weeked. By the way Red Eye, bleedin' Crimson and White here. You gonna watch the game tomorrow? I'll be seeing patients at kickoff and then off with my boy to a food plot and see if we can get him a deer before he goes back to school next week. Doubt I'll see one play but here's a Roll Tide!

Just got back from the morning hunt around Lambert/O'keefe. There are tons of ducks in the area. We were covered up this morning. Did not manage to get a limit, but there are ducks everywhere. At about 6:40 it was like the heavens opened up and rained ducks for about 30 minutes solid. The hole we were in in the timber was not where they wanted to be. Mallards were landing up in the brush if they could get through the canopy. Hopefully they will be in the Sunday.

Whack 'em and stack 'em boys! Good luck!
