Or "Duck Hunters" not socialites, jumping on the Delta Waterfowl band waggon. DU has become to big for it's own good. I'm not bashing DU, I still send money but don't donate my time. I think the first thing that rubbed duck hunters the wrong way was in the early 90's when DU would not say they favored an increase in days after the duck population increased. It made me wonder, is DU working for the duck hunter or is DU working against the duck hunter and for DU? :? :?

That is complete horse crap. Jack Moss you are the biggest freaking liar! We care about grassroots my A$%! I was waiting for this bull crap letter to come out. YOU SCREWED UP AND YOU KNOW IT! Like I said before, you will be lucky to raise 300,000 next year. Your org. did this. So dont blame the volunteers or John for having any decline in the past. You can blame yourself for what yall have done to North MS DU. I truely loved this org. But every time I read horse crap like what yall sent out to us from headquarters is BULL!

I don;t get upset at all about the publicity and media hype DU puts on.
What gets me here is that this fella just stated they were getting rid of JP to greater utilize volunteer efforts.
That is great, GREAT!! but if you are going to trim fat, start a little bit higher. Let us see that the exec's up top are donating LOTS of there 3 ro 4 hundred grand back into the efforts of DU every year.
I want to know that these guys aren't hunting as much as they would like cause they have to work. Not that they are going on national hunting trips 'campaign' for DU.
The guys up to p make too much money for be cutting out local level folks, and wanting hometown chapters to depend on a hotline.
We have been dealing with a great RD here in east tn, and he really helped up get things on the ball this year. If we had to depend on a hotline to get us through it, it wouldn't have happened.

I found this little article at http://philanthropy.com/jobs/2005/11/11/2005111701.htm?bw
Twenty-eight groups reported that they provided their executives with bonuses in 2004, awarding a median bonus of $48,800. Edwin J. Feulner, president of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank in Washington, had the largest bonus, at $260,000. Mr. Feulner, who received the same amount in 2003, has been awarded bonuses of more than $200,000 every year since 1999. Don A. Young, executive vice president and the highest-paid executive at Ducks Unlimited, in Memphis, earned 43 percent more last year than in 2003, thanks largely to a $93,163 bonus. The charity's internal auditor, Adam Webster, wrote in an e-mail message to The Chronicle that the bonus was the result of a "variable compensation plan in which all employees participate."

I also have it on good authority that the letter posted on msducks from jack moss, ronal roberson, and jim young, was a letter drafted by "one of the high paid PR speech writers" not any of the ?distinguished gentlemen? who signed it.

this deal has got the du national office pullin out all the stops fer damage control -- can't wait ta see how they try ta spin the financial figures -- BLACK AND WHITE TAX RETURNS ARE KINDA HARD TA ARGUE WITH, but thay are world class in the spin game, so we will see.

Sure is a shame to see so many people so full of hate and venom use one man's misfortune to promote their own agenda. But, now that we know that Ducks Unlimited pays its employees, I guess all injustices have been righted. I guess yall would do it for free huh?

I got one more question and them I'm done. Do you think J. Peeples would want you up on the internet bashing DU in his name? Think about it.

Once again young jedi, you miss the point, and that is that DU uses smoke and mirrors to create a false image, and our conservation efforts can be better spent.

And yes, most of us have done or do it for free, but then again, we were/are just the lowly volunteers!!!!!!!!!!!!

What they did buy letting John go was showing there true colors. We raise all this money as commitee so they can fire the one guy that we see every weekend so some bigshot can get a nice bonus! And yes Mottlet I do this for free and have done it for years. Also we are not useing Johns name to bash DU. DU is bashing every single grass roots vol. We are not worth 2 RDs? There is no way in this world BRF can do this by himself. How are we going to grow as a org. when we have management that is this stupid. If they wanted to fire someone to save money, I am sure there are other people they could have let go that would not have a impact on raising money. Not the guy you just gave a reward to just 6 months ago for his contributions to DU. I personally dont think they give a crap about us that have helped them maintain that 650,000 a year.

Excellent post, weim, but some just don't have the experience to understand that.

John wouldn"t "want " this, although I bet he is flattered. Maybe they make a lot of money, but maybe they're actually doing a whole lot of actual work running the organization. the doctor, the higher ups are running a pretty big organization, agreed???? How much do they take in every year?? How much are they supposed to make?? I wouldn't want the responsiblilty for $75,000/ year. I bet $250,000 a year for "the doctor" wouldn't be enough! We're all up in the air about lil ole MS, but they are a lot bigger than us. National. Continental. Would we like to have the guy we know still as our RD, yes. Is it the end of the world if somebody else does his job??? No. Did he get a chance to stay with them??? At the same rate of pay?? Yes. Pretty damn nice of 'em if you ask me. People get moved around everyday. Everybody on here has probably experienced it or knows of an example. Now, I don't know that it make sense to move him from here in order "to save money" just to another job paying the same amount, but I don't have all the info that the people that actually work for DU have. None of us do.

no argument there, they are running a large organization, but not for profit

difference: the people making those kinds of salaries for profit do just that make a profit, they produce a favorable return for the organization, the stockholders etc...these guys are living fat on donated money claiming to be doing us a huge favor...bs...plus stockholders have a say in corporate dealings and can in fact remove those that do not perform...we as DU members are at the mercy of those in charge to vote themselves raises (almost like govt), so the only menas we have to express is to quit supprting them and voice our opinions and the facts that formed those opinions through mass media

and it will always be the nature of almost any organization to fire or release those that actually "perform" before they take a cut in pay or reduce corporate headcount...but they add very little in terms of "value" to the organization

the argument here is that they are not generating adequate returns, and reducing those that can a nd do make a differenece, at least according to 47% of those on this board

ps I am guessing by your name change you didnt wear them out on the public land this am

If DU had reduced the number of RD's to one and picked John, would there ever have been a discussion?
