Mr. E,
All I can say is wow. What an addition to the collection.
Image
Here you see Mr. E on my front porch (yes it is pink, shut up) with my choice of 4 calls. I got the one on the right.
When I say this call sings, gobbles, and purrs like no other, I mean NO OTHER.
Oh I can't wait to get this thing in the woods on a bird.

Nice collection Ryan. I think you have more Echo's than Mack's. Wanna sell an Olt? Where's the rest of your calls?

Not duck calls, but my latest editions
The top call is, of course, my Gator Gobbling Stribling from the famous Mr E. I realized I had not showed it off properly.
Th rest are from 2 local call makers.
The box call is by David Ross of Ross Game Calls
The others are all scratch boxes by Mike Mitchell.

Those are some bada$$ looking calls Joel.....general rule of thumb to live life by...If it is only sold in one place and comes packaged in a ziploc bag with a pricetag stuck on it.....It's probably worth having!!!!

I'm getting my GGS in a couple weeks....man I can hardly wait, don't think i have ever been so excited about getting a call in my life!!!!

I have some new additions.
Image
Left to right. And some of what I know about them.
1. Lohman

2. Olt Timberhole Duck Call #TH-96

3. Fred Bailey (LaGrange, Illinois) - (1905-deseased) It is a cedar call with "BAILEY" stamped on the barrel. Fred can be found in Christensen's book page 50 and Harlan's book page 214.

4. Bill Dowdle Duck (Memphis, TN) don't know much about him. Searching.

5. Howard Harlan "The Heavy Duty" Rosewood (Nashville, TN) finding more and more. Will give more info later.

6. Joseph "Tex" Wirtz (1914-1977) walnut (Chicago, Illinois) Beginning in the late 1940's, Tex made duck calls bearing the "Tex Wirtz" name for sale through Marble Arm's "Game Getter" line. . Most calls were walnut while deluxe versions were available in zebrawood and other exotic woods. You can see more of Tex Wirtz's calls in Christensen's book, page 170-171 and Harlan's book, page 192. This is the "odd ball" of the group. I bought the Olt, lohman, this call in a lot. It was listed as an unknown call and it is actually the one I know the most about. Really a like this call.

7. Glenn Scobey (Newbern, TN) Walnut - http://www.glynnscobey.com/

Of these, for some reason I find my self most proud of this one.
Mint In the Box, Heavy Duty Call Company by Howard Harlan, rosewood.

Also, I spent to much on these, and I am in trouble. So, I'll be hanging out with them a lot for a while.

The Dowdles own a sporting goods store up here in Memphis. Lots of old photos and things in the back of the store.
