DanP wrote:The runout by Catfish is about 20 miles upstream of the Arkansas City gauge. For this flood you you need to add 1/2 ft per River mile to adjust the stage for head coming down the River. Arkansas City is projected to crest at 48.5 + 96.66 (gauge elevation) + 10 (1/2' * 20 miles) = 155.1 ft

We were looking at some LIDAR elevation data for merigold yesterday, there will be a few ridges out but not much...
Catfish would be about 20 miles south of Ark City guage (it's near Rosedale)
Not in '08 it was still just north of Ashbrook! Might not have been exactly 20 miles but pretty darn close!
"Arkansas City" gauge is at the Port of Rosedale.

You will see in first few photos river front in our town. You can see around Bunge and the casino a sea wall which every one is concerned it may go over or breach. They have delcared a state of emergency and national guard is here patroling the levee.

He packed up Friday and moved to his office in Blytheville, prob not a bad idea. They are calling 48' on the 7th. They say the wall "should" hold 50'. The COE said the other day the levee will hold 57'. Hopefully we get through this and raise the wall atleast another 7'. One positive I guess was that the river turns back south there and thought is flow is on the TN bank. They said that in 73 it was about 2 days short of making a new channel closer to TN. I dont know exactly how far it is across levee to levee right there but its a pretty good ways. My one concern that if it gives somewhere close to town what would the current and depth be. I am sure that right at the breach it would be pretty bad but with 7 miles or so to my house hope it wouldn't be too bad. Its a tough decision when its time to head to higher ground. I am thinking if they project it going over that 48' I am out.

talked with a coworkers husband today at lunch. he has been in Cairo (sp) IL since the day after easter sandbagging around his camp. he called today and said that they were all escorted out by police because the levee broke north of them and they were all bout to get washed away. Manditory evaquation. Not looking good

I notice since all the rain up north they haven't made a new prediction(crest). I am kind of anxious(scared) to see how high it goes.

57.5 @ Vicksburg. 64.5 @ Greenville.
Wolf Lake area projected 107-108.

64.5? Rapidly exceeding FUBAR status! what kind of event does that translate too? over the 100 year right?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. Is there any type of flood evacuation plan, or is it going to be every man for himself if the $#!+ hits the fan?
