The whole beard and red neck look is just that, a look for the show. Saw a Duck Commander show where a picture was shown of Willie and his wife prior to all the Duck Commander and Buck Commander stuff and he had his hair cut short above his ears, no beard, and not dressed with the bandanna and ripped shirt.

I've been out of town working. I called home last night around 9pm and my wife was watching it.

She watched both episodes and liked it. I did as well. The funnies character on the show without meaning to be is Si. The clip of Si driving the 18 wheeler and grinding gears the whole way was classic.

I thought it was ok. Nothing spectacular for sure, but certainly better than 90% of what is on TV. You can tell that a lot of that junk was for people who know nothing about ducks or duck hunting. They are trying to make a show that lots of people will watch, not just duck hunters.
Yes, Willie married up!
Si (silas) is a character.

Thought it was pretty good. Obviously, they are trying to make a show that appeals to many across the country. You have to hand it to them. They have made a major business out of literally nothing.
One time several years ago I was driving back from a wedding in Texas and stopped at the Raising Canes in West Monroe right off the interstate for lunch. When I walked in (around noon on a Sunday) I noticed four or five tables pushed together in the middle with kids (from young to early teens) all the way around. I look up and here comes Willie Robertson with boxes of Cane's chicken. I am sure that some of the kids were his, but some were not for obvious skin tone reasons. All dressed in church clothes. I, to this day, don't know the reason, but it made an impression on me that he was obviously churching and feeding a bunch of kids that he didn't have to with his wife and I think one other couple.
From that point forward, I have decided to give those guys the benefit of the doubt. Moreover, how many shows on main stream TV make a point to show the characters praying at least once an episode as a family?

I don't know if I would put it just like that, but I get your point and I agree to an extent. Some people are so tied up in being critical of everything they can't just take something at face value and be entertained. If you can't watch those guys, knowing where they come from and who they are, and laugh at the funny and understand the entertainment value of the fake and enjoy the rest without looking down your nose...I can't help but believe there is some envy down in there somewhere...
It's good entertainment I think...better than most things I find on TV...as someone that spends alot of time doing outdoor industry work, I appreciate how well they do what they do, no matter how staged, modified, or whatever some of it is...

I always thought filming a guide service for a year would be a great "job" tv show like they have on discovery.
Bunch of drama, new people, and a look into the part of the world so many are now entrenched in.
