Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
What's the scenario for the Dawgs to host a super regional next weekend? Just win the regional? Or does someone besides Stanford have to win their regional too?

Stanford really needs to lose for us to get the super.

Agreed, that is the only reliable site on the net that I know of for up to date college baseball infoGreenhead22 wrote:They'll update accordingly. A lot of host teams are flip flopping on when to start for the most rest. I doubt LSU plays the early game though.

Dont think we should start making reservations in Starkville for a super regional quite yet. Little bit of business to be taken care of on the front end. Not good karma
Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
No doubt about that. I was just wondering if it was at all possible that we could host since we are obviously a lower seed, playing at a National seed regional.Bullet wrote:Dont think we should start making reservations in Starkville for a super regional quite yet. Once a national seed loses out, that regional winner does not take the ranking. They did that the first year or two but then decided to change that.

Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
Their ace is 12-1, but I look for them to save him for Game 2. Florida State will save their ace for sure and not waste him against ULM. If Graveman was healthy, I swear I'd save Stratton for the FSU matchup.
Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
Samford is in the top 25 in every batting category except walks and they are 42....
Stratton is going to have to deal, these guys can hit
Pitching well they leavve something to be desired... ranking 120 out of all D1 schools

Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
It depends. A lot of teams will view it this way. Don't have to win game 1, but your surely have to win game 2. It's makes no difference bracket wise, it's just the thought process of the whole thing. I've seen #4 seeds hold their ace for game 2 also. Like I said, it just depends.
No doubt in my mind that Miss State wins the 2003 regional if Maholm was saved for Game 2 vs. North Carolina. That decision still lingers in the minds of many a MS baseball fan to this day.
Another thing about Martin, their ace. He started twice in that tournament if I'm correct. They would be better suited giving him an extra day of rest.

Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
Graveman's bullpen session went great yesterday, showing that he's got his sink back on his fastball. Cohen is almost 90% sure Stratton will start Friday.
Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
I feel 100% confident in our pitching staff regardless who he puts out there... but would love to save Stratton for game 2
I dont know man but if Friday dont hurry up and get here i am going to go crazy. And they dont show old CWS games on the tube like they used to leading up to OMAHA so that sucks as well
Hoping our hitting shows up against their not so great pitching... Most of the games they have won have been won with them scoring 10 runs or more... that aint happening with anybody we put out there. Their opponents are scoring alot of runs as well
majority of their losses where low scoring affairs so I am feeling good about this!!!! our staff can shut anybody down!!

Re: 2012 NCAA Regional Central
Samford has three guys in the lineup with 22, 14 and 10 homeruns. I don't care where they play, those are stout numbers with those bbcor bats. I got the privilege of trying one out recently. They SUCK. This crew loves to hit fly balls, and a healthy Graveman could turn it into a ground ball game.

I saw the same thing and thought they probably played in a cracker jack park but their dimensions line up right with the DUDE and Fl State's field so I dont know....
Im going with their SOS being 92 and lack of good pitching they see.... lesser opponents are going to have guys throwing majority fastballs so that could explain the high HR #s
