That's pretty cool. I took 4 Violin lesson before I decided the world would be better off without me learning that art. Very hard to learn how to play a violin.
From everything I have read, the violin is one of the few instruments that requires a human being to begin practicing very early in life in order to even get close to virtuoso status- hell to even have noticeable skill. Which is almost certainly the case with any instrument, but I have seen people pick up a guitar and other stringed instruments and in a matter of 3 or 4 years they master it, to a certain extent. Not so with the violin.

There's probably something to that.

Of course, there are a lot more people that attempt to learn guitar, a lot more guitars out there, and guitar based music is a lot more popular than violins. I know a handful of people that have tried violin but couldn't begin to count those that have tried to play guitar.

No doubt the older you get the less likely you are to pick up an instrument and become proficient enough that folks want to hear you play.
