I think what the BPS dude meant was they are numbered by lot, as in part of someone's collection either donated to BPS or loaned to BPS for display - I'd guess like all the other antique stuff in the display cases inside the store. As far as I can tell the display's can't be opened w/o a ball peen.

No he actually said that was what the calls were valued at, "a lot." I left that part out because I wanted to be interviewed by Monster Quest.
