How bout knowing all the writing in the lease BEFORE anyone starts blaming poor ole farmer! There easily could becwording like once he got thru with field prep or something like that. It could be any number of reasons. Legit or not dont accuse till whole lease is read. We just finished our field work today! But most of you haven't had to deal with 4 orc5 thousand acres of ruts after a year like this. Its not always so simple!

Not jumping on the "poor ole farmer", if there is such.

And I have not read the entire lease, but was just making an observation that IF it is in the lease, the farmer should live up to his end of the contract or compensate the lessee's per the terms of the agreement.

If it were me an I had a good thing going on normal years I keep a good relationship with members an owner, compromise or improvise whatever it takes. Like mentioned its awful early to cause a stink anyway. There are people waiting in line to come across a good place to hunt. We have some what of the same problem now either low water or just no birds. We made a rotation out in advance.

You know your options.

a. Stay as is, tough it out, pray for water and toss a few extra $$ in the offering plate next time you make it to the churchhouse.
b. Pull out the contract and try to enforce it as written.
c. Pull out the contract, speak with the farmer about it and even if it favors your version of pumping water in, offer to help pay for fuel as a compromise to keep good relations with the farmer.

Because in the "duck hunting world" a contract ONLY is binding on the lessee, and not the lessor.... There is always some dude from Alabama hot and eager to pony up money for "next year" to the guy that did not honor his commitments to you "this year." Sorry, but that how it is.... And the farmer may simply not be able to flood yet because he still has work to do. That is easily worked out. Stuff like this should make us all appreciate the lessors who actually DO what they say they will, or communicate early when they can't do it on time. We just never hear much about those folks that "do right." There are lots of them, too.

Field might as well be dry. Got 7 fields pumped and no ducks in dry environment with 70'

70 would be downright freaking COLD compared to last weekend!
