They wear pretty comfy once they are broke in. The horsehide like mine...I forget it's there most of the time

I have a supertuck for my Glock 36 but I have a desk job and find it to be very uncomfortable to wear while seated all day. I usually carry it at the 4 o clock position. I'm pretty skinny so 3 o clock doesn't really work well. Any suggestions on how to make it more comfortable for every day carry?

The NRA Store, http://www.nrastore.com/, has some pretty nice options for holstering your gun at your desk.

Ok, now for the next can of worms, and I'm pretty sure we've run this one in the ground once before....cocked and locked, chambered and de-cocked, or empty chamber?

Always cocked and locked here. My holster covers my trigger plenty good.

Empty chamber with my Sig P238. But it's not a true 1911 action as it doesn't have the backstrap safety. I've had the safety switch off before holstering it meaning I would be walking around cocked with absolutely no safety. The Glock of course rides with one in the chamber.

I'd much prefer cocked and locked, but this is my concern as well. Safety mechanisms are just that, safety mechanisms, and can fail or be disengaged. I have big hands and long fingers and fairly efficiently peepee the hammer as I draw. I think it will be chambered and decocked for me.

I am average size and have not found a way to carry the 1911 unless it is SOB. I use a left handed holster when I do choose to carry it. (I carry a keltecpf9 all the time).

My 1911 stays cocked and locked whether it is in my truck, in the small of my back, or on my nightstand. It was made to be carried that way. I feel more comfortable with it cocked and locked than i do with the pf9 in my pocket in a holster.
